Wonderful morning drive with @leicaboss and @cdo221. Started out at Fairfax at dawn. Few cyclists, but not too bad and all were courteous. Fairfax-Bolinas rd. was quite bumpy as usual, but this drive was not a "balls-out" high adrenaline drive, but more of a "brisk" sunday morning cruise to take in the views. Morning sunshine trickled through the trees as we wound through the coastal redwoods towards Alpine lake. Stopped to take in the view, when the cameras came out, David with his very cool vintage Leica and Chris with his impressive camera, filters and all (inception shot of David shooting Chris shooting my car ). Continued onto ridgecrest but was dismayed to see that the road was closed until 9am, so we hung out for a little while until a very nice park ranger lady came by (early) to unlock the gate. Ridgecrest was wonderful as usual, so we took in the view, while I relived my rally fantasies (complete with pacenotes in my head, "3 left into 3 right, keep right on the crest"). The East peak of Mt. Tam did not disappoint, the view of the bay was clear, with SF and the golden gate at the distance, with a nice blanket of fog over the ocean to the west. Worked our way back down and onto the panoramic highway, where the smooth curvy tarmac was well appreciated. Your hands start to feel the rhythm as you go through each corner, feeling like a downhill skier on a slalom course, with just enough camber to the road to boost your confidence that the tires will hold, egging you on. On the way down, we were greeted by a very nice turkey who was in no hurry to cross the road, made for a good wtf moment. Unfortunately, we ran into that same fog we were admiring as we finished down highway 1, but none the less, it was a pleasure gentlemen, let's do it again soon.

Do it! With enough heads up, I can definitely make it. Perhaps meeting/starting from Oakdale?

Drove with new friends today, @BigFatLip and @cdo221 - Glad I got to meet you two - I would've been in the Rally Armor + Not-that-loud-exhaust club had I installed all my prior components (soon!). Admittedly, it was hard getting out of bed, but the drive was totally worth it - even made it to church back in the city

Thanks for posting pics, @cdo221, post moreeee! I'm converting videos now.

I'm totally in! As long as I know ahead of time, I know some good routes. We just need to choose a starting point. I've been looking forward to getting folks out here.

Hahaha no problem, that was pretty funny though. I guess as soon as I answered you realized I wasn't coming. I set an alarm but obviously slept through it, stayed up too late the night before watching the Australian Grand Prix.

I hope this drive happens again soon, I really want to do it!

I spoke to the 'leader' of the Euro-Sunday Modesto group yesterday at our monthly cars and coffee meetup. He said that there's a run up to Yosemite in the works with the British Car club coming up. Depending upon when it is, we could meet, and bust out early so as not to get tangled in the oildripping MG's, Austins, etc. (said with the fondest affection for all vintage tin, regardless of origin!)

I also have many old runs I have done with my Datsun Roaster groups in past years laid out, and while they may not make it up to the park ($20 each car to get in) they do get to some great roads in the foothills!

on Friday before heading over to the Dublin meet I had a few hours to kill... stopped by Umigo Racing to watch a little gokarting (hey guys when are we going next? -- I guess maybe the LeMans Karting car meet on 29th might be the next opportunity) and then cruised another favorite road, Patterson Pass.

Not like any of your epic drives but I think I drove a few of the major highways today. You want to hear it, here it goes:

680->880->237 to work. 280 to Page Mill for lunch. 101->280->380 to SF after work. From SF, 80->580->24, then was detoured to go to CV. So took 13->580. From CV, 580->Crow Canyon. Home and out of gas. I was too lazy to make a u-turn for Shell. I'll fill up in the morning.

Yup. I plan on getting some time in at the Meng meet. Next time you hit up Patterson you better text me damn it. Lol

Update: I wasn't aware there was such little time to plan ahead. There's a BMW 49'er run THIS saturday! I am not sure about who or what, but I have not ever had an issue with interloping with other makes. Besides, the twins seem to draw plenty of attention and questions.

http://www.mapmyfitness.com/routes/view/361567783

I am not sure if I will make this run, these are fun roads, however.

LOL at using mapmyfitness to map out the run. A bit of a long trek on foot or even on a bicycle haha.

Looks like fun but I'll be up at Thunderhill this Sat.

That is the route I followed yesterday. Spent the whole day on the road. My friend did this on a Ducati. We're both pretty tired after driving this route hard, but it was worth it. I especially enjoyed the roads and breathtaking views North of the Golden Gate. The food also made for great pit stops.
