when i took it in it had crickets... they said they did nothing and i did not hear any crickets on my drive home. gonna really take it out tonight and give it some spirited driving and see if they come back.
in other news they couldn't confirm or deny my taillight condensation and they finally got my ECU in and working. so im getting close to being done with all this hopefully

Man this post seems alot to do with nothing,...has anyone had a pump failure yet?,...surely with the amount of cars out there(thousands) if this was a real problem we would of had some failures.. I'm thinking enough people have made complaints,..both on the internet and at dealers that Toyota was compeled to find a fix ASAP for this (non-problem) to quell any rumors before they start on such a new model. The sound deadening is pretty scarce on this car (to keep costs down like everything else on this car), I suggest if it really bothers you maybe add some......I know.....I know not going to be a popular post.

I wouldnt go to the extreme of lemon law, but I would certainly get it fixed. Like I said before, nobody knows what the long term affects are of the HPFP squeak. It says (the subaru version elaborates a little further) that its because a plunger doesnt sit properly inside the pump, which causes the squeak. IMO, something not sitting right means that it wont wear down properly as the car gets older. If it doesnt wear down right, then it could cause problems in the long term. I also highly doubt anyone, even Toyota/Subaru, knows for sure what long term issues could be had with this. Nobody has a GT86/FRS/BRZ with 100k miles on it (that I am aware of) with this issue to test it fully one way or another.
Ultimately, I'd rather get it fixed now, even if it is a hassle, on a brand new car that shouldnt have any problems to begin with, on someone else's money, than to leave it alone and have to repair it on my own dime after having to pay for the car to be towed because i decided it was just a noise.

I've seen some posts stating that the fuel pump fixes the A/C compressor tweet. Let me emphatically state: that is not true. I heard the tweet just as before on my drive home today, even though the crickets were absent.

Yah i too have some experience with a lot of boxer engiens lots of subaru EJ series engines and never once heard a cricket sound from a fuel pump even though this is a HPFP and EJ series engines didnt have them.
i may or may not go and get it fixed right away id like a definite repair and then confidently go in and say hey this is a problem its been addressed and there is a fix so please repair it for me again i dont want to be an annoying jerk person that keeps showing up with an issue id like to go in once have it fixed and be a happy camper. dont want the hassle of going back and forth to get the same problem to come back.

This is not a Subaru engine noise. This is a Direct Injection high-pressure fuel pump noise. No previous Subaru has had DI (maybe the new Forester, I'm not sure). The boxer-style motor doesn't make a difference, it's an issue inside the HPFP.
EJs make funny noises. They don't chirp, though.

I definitely agree on the post before, i fully believe that this noise can and will effect resell value, especially if Subaru/Scion fix the issue on future models.
