The Solstice GXP/Sky Redline did the same thing. There's a torque sensor in the driveline that lets the ECU monitor things.

The good news is that this will keep people who mod improperly from destroying the car so badly. I'm eager to see what the tuners uncover when they rack the ECU open. One of the local tuners is going to try and download the ECU on my BRZ this weekend.

Anything below 3,000rpm and the car sounds fine. On cold startups however it is VERY loud. But only for the first 30-40seconds.
The car driven from 4krpm onwards is quite loud with the HKS system.

Here is a video my friend took for me on his camera. Don't mind the blurry-ness of the video as that isn't important, only the sound. I would have preferred a proper 'drive by' but didn't have much time that day. Plus the road was short and bumpy.
