Tapping sound above 70 mph - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I normally have the radio on but over the weekend I had it off. I was driving on the highway and heard a tapping sound from the passenger rear. It sounded like something was blown by the wind very light sound. It could have always been present but anyone else experience this?

I looked underneath the car and I don't see anything loose.

I have had the rattle occur from the front end at low rpm's. But I to heard this tapping sound today from my driver's side rear. I pulled over assuming one of my boot laces was hanging out the trunk tapping the car but that turned out not be the case??

Try looking at the license plate cover. Allot of people say that was the cause of their problem.

No one knows for sure, some guess it's the license plate..there are other guesses but no answers so far last time I checked that thread

I couldn't have described this sound better, and I have an FRS! It's happened with the rear seats up and down, so the problem's not there. I'll have to look into the rear license plate holder.

Is this it? Rear wheel well appears to be loose.

Sorry, can't figure out how to embed here.

My theory is that at speed it begins to slap against the fender.

I'm going to take a look at this, and I am also going to put some foam on my license plate to rule that out as a possible noise maker

I actually noticed this yesterday when washing my car. I wonder how it can be fixed.
