Front pipe comparison: Stock vs. Berk vs. Fujitsubo vs. Apex'i

From top to bottom: stock, Apex'i, Berk, Fujitsubo.

From bottom to top: stock, Apex'i, Berk, Fujitsubo.

It should be noted that at this time, Apex'i front pipe is only available as part of the complete header/FP kit: http://www.apexi-usa.com/store/exhau...ubaru-brz.html

Flange positions looks like the Apex'i front pipe could be separated into a standalone part, however that is at the discretion of Apex'i.

Will also look to test sound with this setup on a STX car.

Apexi's also seems to be the only one with extra O2 sensor bung after it's cat somewhat distinguishing it from rest.

Actually, for the header to pass certification there is a requirement for the factory O2 sensors to retain original layout, i.e. one before the primary cat and one after the primary cat.

That's why there is a O2 bung after the cat on the Apex'i setup. The wideband O2 bung is actually in the header itself (not shown)

I like that large rectangular canister style resonator on the Apexi pipe.

Apex'i is missing out on a lot of sales from not selling that front-pipe as a standalone part.

I think Revolution has a similar front pipe design that has a huge resonator like that.

I've have tried 3 of those listed. Stock pipe, Berk HFC and the Fujitsubo. I really liked the sound the Berk produced with my Perrin 2.5" resonated cat back however it was a bit too intrusive for me especially over long distances. I swapped it out for the fujitsubo which produces similar sound levels to the stock pipe, its alot less 'boomy' than the Berk. Surprisingly (well for me anyway) the Fujitsubo feels as if it produces the most power according to the butt dyno, it pulls harder out of the torque dip than when the Berk HFC was fitted. My mate who was also in the car before and after it was fitted agreed.

Just tested Apex'i front pipe only.

Halfway in sound between Berk and Fujitsubo, but not as quiet as Fujitsubo.

Stock everything: 83.9db
Fujitsubo front pipe: 83.9db
Berk front pipe: 86.4db
Apex'i front pipe: 85.7db

Man that's awesome to know! Thanks so much for the review! Glad you already got yours! So lucky ahaha I can't wait to pick mine up
I'm also happy to know it does give an improvement, since I plan to keep my header stock because I don't like how loud our cars get with a aftermarket header.
Fujitsubo for the win!

Alex, you are an awesome member on here. You also give the information i think about....I don't even need to ask something, Alex always will have the information sooner or later haha

Fujitsubo is still the perfect option for me, especially since it will match with the fujitsubo authorize r exhaust since they probably used that when designing it

No worries man! I too will be keeping the stock header, I can't deal with it being too loud either. Alex hope you dont mind me chipping in, not trying to steal your thunder.

I've put another few hundred miles on the Fujitsubo now and I'm definitely enjoying it, the biggest difference for me is on over run, whereas before you got that typical drone/hum as the rpm tails off, the exhaust is silent now, I much prefer this, its much more civilised BUT and there is a but... at very low RPM the exhaust is resonating through the car, unfortunately I can feel/hear this and it is at a frequency where the whole boot lid rattles briefly as you pass 1400rpm. Fortunately that frequency window is very small and I hardly spend any time at that RPM but its still unwanted nonetheless. I plan to get under the car this weekend to check everything is tight, if im lucky it may pass as the exhaust beds in, if not I may have to stick some sound deadening on the boot lid to mask it.

This is precisely the reason why I want to test out configs of this, because there is a misconception among users that you can put different parts from different companies together and it may work well.

When there's certain configurations being put together, minor annoyances show up... not a fault of the individual products, but rather their sum.

Really? But I can't see any information from Fujitsubo Japanese official website! Even what you told to me, like "Yahoo Japan" .
