Maybe they will use this on the new Supra?

Toyota's New twin-turbo V6

Surprisingly, though, the LS doesn't use the LC's powertrain. Under the hood is a completely new twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that pumps out 415 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. That puts it down on power, but ahead in torque compared with the LC's V8. It's also significantly more than the previous LS' V8, and Lexus predicts it will be capable of a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds with rear-wheel drive. A Lexus PR representative also said the LS is only being released with the V6. We doubt it would be hard to drop one in later though if Lexus saw demand.

Yeah I imagine a corporate TTV6 would be the hot ticket but who knows - I didn't think Toyota/Lexus would maintain a screaming V8 this long. I just read an interesting article by Eddie Alterman in the latest C&D which suggests with the new administration coming in (Trump is pro-business, obviously) we could see a stalwart by the the Big three lobbying the regulatory path of CAFE for 2025 to attain the 55 mpg average. Alterman suggests that may allow for for more adventurous up-sizing in engines and consumer preferences for bigger=better. But I'm not so sure it'll be as easy this time around especially with oil pricing volatility and global market pressures to homogenize product type which is likely supporting top line profits. In other words, I still think F/I will supplement displacement for the foreseeable automotive future. But EV tech, or more specifically manufacture IP leasing, will likely dwindle.

Maybe we'll get some more 5.0L+ engines back into the market place

They definitely had a better reskinned Tercel before that.

I think that would be a good Plan B alternative. However, I think Toyota should stick to I6 TT like the current M3.

The new camry might imply how the design of the Supra nose may look like.

I'm thinking it will be closer to the face lift 86.

A Toyota V6TT would a good choice. I'm hoping that Toyota wouldn't cut corners on this project, esp the engine and keep it true to it's roots since they plan to call it a Supra. To me, I'm not holding my breath that much any more since this is another Toyota partnership for cost cutting.

When the FT86 was still in development, my complaints were the continuous GT-S references that never made it to the GT86. Specifically the engine, the Subie collaboration and production at FHI, no hatchback and the decision to brand it as a Scion.

That's just my opinion though.

My question

Do we see it this year? New York auto show maybe? Makes sense to me. Camry(sportier for sure) release at Detroit, FT-1 at New York. I think they should keep the FT-1 name to go along with the GT 86.
