Encountering some woes on the next installation so here's the progress report. My car is currently in for the following:

STi engine mounts
STi transmission mount
STi tS rear subframe
STi rear subframe mounts
STi differential mounts

Spark plug, oil change, and diff fluid change are all happening too.

Here's the car all torn apart

Those STi rear axles though.

Unfortunately we hit a snag: my friend doesn't have the necessary equipment to press out and in the new subframe mounts so we had to take it to another shop for them to do. These guys accidentally pressed them in in reverse orientation and now can't press them back out with damaging the mounts. So we now have to purchase new ones sigh. The shop is of course covering all costs (including expedited shipping), but it just sucks that the car will now sit for a while (depending on how fast they can get here from Japan). Oh well got to make the best of it:

Happy to say everything is done! Some impressions coming but the short story is holy crap if there was ever a feeling of "dialed in," this would be it. Everything on the car right now is just solid and responsive; every small input to the steering; the throttle is like an on/off switch when you press down on the accelerator. I couldn't be happier with the car. As far as increase in NVH, there is a slight increase in vibration during cruising over more bumpy roads, and the steering wheel is communication more vibration (albeit its far more feedback now); nothing that you can't live without, and when the car is accelerating or cornering, it actually creates an opposite effect of just smoothness.

I've updated the parts list with everything installed.

Quick shot tonight as the STi badging is reflecting off the lighting. As the "STi" badging on the wing is done in a debossed, gloss black appearance, its typically hidden unless you look at the wing in the right angles. I kind of wish that this was the normal appearance but I'm not going to complain

Time to finish strong! I've already got the next few changes planned out. This includes, as expected, the gauge cluster from the tS, as well as adding the pink stripe to the front and rear bumpers (still on the fence about adding the rear stripe though). Most importantly, I've finally decided that I will be changing the header. To be honest, I'm glad I waited. To carry forward the theme of an OEM build, I am waiting for Fujitsubo to release their exhaust manifold. This is the same system used on the GRMN 86, Griffon Concept, and Gazoo 86 cars. Needless to say, its trusted by Toyota.

Could you provide some insight on physical differences between the OEM and the STI tS rear subframe?

Because of time constraints (we relied on another shop to press the mounts in and out and perform an alignment, so to some extent we had to account for their scheduling), we didn't take a deep dive into the differences or document much of the install, but based on the observations we did have, we noticed the following:

Appearance wise, we couldn't really tell much of a difference between the two. Again, we didn't have much time to really put the two frames side by side for comparison, so if there are any physical differences, there very subtle. We did notice a difference in weight between the two. Again, nothing I can give concrete but the tS subframe did feel lighter with all the handling that's required to install/uninstall this part.

The main difference is that it comes with different bushings already pre-installed. This includes the STI differential bushings that you can purchase seperately, but also different rear subframe bushings. The ones on the tS are actually different from both the OEM ones and the ones off the STI accessories catalog. From the looks of it, it appeared to slot in between both in terms of rigidity. We ended up, of course, pressing the tS ones out in favor of the stiffer STI ones.

The tS subframe may be worth the purchase for anyone looking to change out the subframe and differential bushings, especially if its a full replacement bushing and not an insert. The cost of the subframe is about the same if you buy the STI bushings seperate; but you save potential time/money from having to get them pressed in and out, etc.

Question

How do you like the STI exhaust? Was it worth the purchase?

For me, it's been worth it. At the same time, I acknowledge that part of my justification for its worth is because of the overall theme of the build and sticking to it. The look, construction, and fit and finish are excellent, though. Could be louder on its own though (most of my car's sound comes from the front pipe than the axle back).

Haha it was a must have tick on the options list!

Haven't decided yet. Didn't really enjoy Subie Fest that much the last times I went. But they'll probably bring out the S207 there as well and I do want to see that car in person.
