Has that always happened? The differential in these cars lock the wheels 50:50 under power, right? So if you are turning, the outside wheel (I think) is forced to turn slower and 'skips' and sounds like you are peeling out.

I think power sliding is great. I did it once in the rain when making a U-turn onto a 2 lane road - then never again. I maintained control, but was not expecting the car to slide as much as it did. I ended up sliding left to right to left to right between the lanes. I was so surprised that I couldn't think to ease my foot off the gas to straighten out. Once I got it straight enough I just dumped the gas and thankfully didn't spin out.

Shit, I hope not! Im not trying to buy new tires
The Primacy tires were purposely chosen for their ability to break traction at relatively slow speeds.
They are not ruined, you have not "fried the contact surface", and all is fine. You would have to do a shitload of "power slides" to burn out your tires that fast.

Glad you said "ease" since lifting too quickly in that situation can cause lift over steer and instead of straightening out you make things even worse.

That's a relief to hear, thanks!
Is there a way to tell when the tires contact surface has burned off, or when I need new tires? Is it a visual check or from the feel of driving, how can you tell?

....Think Ill keep powersliding to a minimum, being a college student, can't afford to be buying new tires often unnecessarily.

Can't stop powersliding! Doing any harm?

It's possible to waste tires in a single day. I know this from experience.
It won't hurt to look at your treadwear. Just go behind your rear tire (make sure handbrake is on) and see if the tread in the middle is a bit faded. Compare it to the front tires.

Also, rotate your tires for even treadwear.

Note: to waste them in a single day you'd have to be doing a lot of burnouts and drifting.

Guys will powersliding in the rain still cause my tires to wear out? Or do they not wear out the tires contact surface because the wet road is slippery?

This way I can stick to doing them only when it rains!

Not as fast as powersliding on dry roads.

Please be careful too. It's so much fun.. until you bend a rim and a toe arm hitting a curb

That's supposed to be straight..

Jeez... Did you have to replace it yourself or did you take it to a shop?

I'm guessing this happened from adding too much throttle on a powerslide and loss control hitting a curb?

Too much throttle.. actually wide open throttle.

It's right under the lower control arm

I smashed a curb going way too fast on a left turn. I'm an idiot for doing so but it was fun still.

I had to replace:
Toe arm
Rim (it was bent pretty bad)
Wheel hub assembly (bearing got wrecked)
Lower control arm.

All in all it costed me about 500ish usd because I did all the work myself. I just got it inspected by a dealership to let me know what's screwed up

If anybody burns through a set of tires while street driving in one day they are a menace and moron.

If you are just wearing the "middle" you don't have the right air pressure.

Don't need to compare to the front tires since that is what wear bars are for.

You did get the rotate part right though.
