Those steps are not necessary - ECU reset after each flash.
If when you say "retune" you mean write/flash the same tune again (e.g. Stg 2 UEL), this is also probably not necessary. Its OK if you do it, but then drive the first 100+ miles smoothly in closed loop (no WOT) mode to help your car learn new fuel trims.

Logging your tune is the only way to tell if thing are OK. Read the posts linked in steve99 signature.

If you happen to have a Tactrix cable (or know someone who has one) and ECUflash/Romraider, you can pull the ROM and view the parameters. If this doesn't make a lot of sense to you, then simply flash and log with OFT.

First 100 miles? I was smashing it with that beautiful sound after 10 lol maybe thats why? That's what I meant by reflashing like flash the Stage 2 tune again and drive with low RPMs for the first 100 miles now that I know. Should I stay under a certain RPM?

Its not so much about revs, more about light and progressive throttle use - although staying under 5000 rpm might be a good idea.

You can configure the real time display on your OFT to show you whether you are closed or open loop. From memory, the parameter you want is Fuel System Status and 2 means you are closed loop (car will learn trims), 4 means open loop (no learning).

You don't have to reflash, you can just drive more gently from now. The more you stay in closed loop, the quicker the car will learn the correct trims and apply them in open loop.

It never actually "finishes" learning trims as this is the process the ECU uses to deal with variations.

To give an analogy:

Your friend moves house and you are going to visit for the first time.
He asks how long you will be - he wants the fried chicken he is making you to be nice and hot .
You have never driven the route before so make a guess based on the distance (30 mins)
It takes you 45 mins to get there because of traffic, weather, etc.

Next time you drive there you tell him 45 mins - but it only takes you 35 mins. No traffic.

You've now been going there once a week for a year. You can pretty reliably estimate that it will take 32 mins in the dry and 44 mins in the wet. You can never be exactly precise because there are still variables (e.g. road works, slow grandpa, traffic light sequence), but you can give your friend a very good estimate.

9 times out of 10, dinner is nice and hot....you've "finished" learning your fuel trims.

General views seem to be that 100 miles of closed loop driving is a good start.....
Hopefully you will notice sharper throttle response, more power and better fuel mileage - although most of this will happen progressively

You really only need maybe ~20sec in each mafv "bin" to learn trims. The trick is to help the higher up bins learn -- these are ones you rarely use during actual driving and so by 100 miles you should have trained them, but you can speed it up by doing slow & steady (keep it closed loop) pulls up to 5000rpm -- it'll get you up to around 3 volts.

My real time display shows mafv is 0v. Not 3v. Is there something wrong?

unfortunatly several logging parameters do not work correctly with oft , this is on most 2015 and above ecu calibration id.

I'm in NY, all they do is hook up OBD2 to read for CEL when I buy a OFT and turn off the p0420 code from the OFH, does that make it "not ready" or does that turn it off? If it says not ready i'd never pass and thats worrying.

As far i know (on my experience) the stage 2 tune disable the the code p0420.

Tunes for catless headers will disable the P0420 cel code for cat efficiency and you wont trigger cel light.
However no tune system i am aware of even ecutek, will bypass or set the readyness checks to good, this is a separate piece of code in ecu

So even though you wont get cel the readyness check for front cat will still show fail

New to me 2014 BRZ, was absolutely stock when I bought it as far as I know. No bolts had been touched anywhere from OEM.

I loaded Openflash manager on my PC, plugged the OFT, it did a firmware update(I think that's what it did). Took 4-5 minutes with my slow internet.

After this, I went and plugged the OFT in my 2014 BRZ, went through the menus, pressed read and once it was done, I got the "Mod file not found" error. Read/Write buttons are now greyed out.

My stock rom is the B00C.

Could there have been a tune in there already? Or since I had done an update on the OFT it erased all the preloaded maps that would have been on there? If that's the case, i'll just load up the B00C stage 1 91 map, OTS Stage 2 UEL 91 map and the Stage 2OFH 91 map. I'll be installing my OFH3 later this week.

I also sent an email to OFT with the .ori file it spat out also.
