swapping to JDM head lights for BRZ, sacrilege?

So I jumped on a used set of JDM head lights from a Japanese auction site, and knowing the Japanese culture, they were in perfect condition.

My questions is, you guys think its a bit sacrilegious to swap my BRZ head lights to them? With our LED boomerang, I believe the GT86 head lights are a plug and play (not for FR-S) and I've asked numerous times on this forum if the BRZ -> GT86 lights are plug 'n' play or not, with no answer. That tells me not many people are swapping the head lights (makes sense).

I have multiple buyers waiting to buy my brz head lights, or people wanting to buy my GT86 head lights.

I know the ol' "its your car so do what you want", but I just ordered my Tom's tail lights which would match the boomerang heads, and this was my original plan when I first saw the Tom's tail lights. They also have an resemblance of teh BRZ STI tails as well.

I always like to be a little different from the crowd, and thought putting the GT86 head lights on my BRZ would be pretty cool. So what is your thoughts fellow BRZ owners!

BRZ headlights have turn signals in the headlights and the FRS doesn't. However I'm not sure if I can say the same about the 86 with high confidence.

The BRZ headlights have turn signals inside them, the GT86 lights do not. You wouldn't have any working turn signals in the front if you swapped. That's one big red flag.

The other red flag is that the JDM headlights are setup for right-hand drive; you'll be blinding everyone in the oncoming lane, as the headlights will be setup for driving on the left side of the road. Not sure if there's a way to adjust the beam and make it compatible with driving on the right side of the road.

yea good call on turn signals. I've heard the side markers work as turn signals or something once you re wire them?

As for the light issue, I've met some other 86 owners with the JDM head light swap and it is not bad at all. And you can adjust the angles on the head lights manually.

I would have to agree, the BRZ headlights are the best among the three. They are my favorite part of the car. But if you like the GT86 lights then go for it.

The 86 headlights should work, I just imagine you'd have to find a way to relocate your turn signal. Maybe you can use the DRLs as turn signals.

Keep in mind that the side markers cannot be seen from the front. You'll be left with an inability to signal your intentions to oncoming traffic. Not only is that illegal but highly unsafe. DRLs won't work for signals as they're too bright at night.

The Z-pattern in the cutoff will be another issue. It's difficult to dial in RHD HID's for LHD roads.

BRZ lights + Tom's gets my vote. That's what I have and I wouldn't go any other way.

The 86 lights look great... on an 86.

I was thinking along the lines of just changing the LEDs in the housing rather than using as is. I'm pretty sure turn signals need to be amber anyway.

I believe it varies by state but I believe that the most common law is:

Front turn signals must blink amber or white.
Rear turn signals must blink amber or red.

I guess I am in violation since I have white LED blinkers in the rear too.. until I splurge on some TOM'S LED taillights at least.

Actually I just looked it up specifically for Ohio and it turns out the fronts have to be amber and the rears have to be red or amber here... Sigh. I probably should have looked that up before I spent $130 on white LEDs.

I say do it, I read somewhere about adjusting the "squirrels"? idk what that means, but you need to look into adjusting them for LHD conversions. As for the turn signals, I'm with @dori. amber bulbs in the DRL would look pretty clean.
