There is no alarm yet. I asked if I can pay for it now and then get it installed when it's available, but they told me I can't do that because they don't even have the price for it.

That's really weird because when I was buying my FRS on Memorial they tried to add on the alarm system and Xylon coating for $1795.00. I refused because I didn't want anyone manhandling my car putting in an alarm system. They almost didn't sell me the car because of this. They said the alarm was $1000 by itself. Very bad experience that got worse, then ended up better expected. Got the XYlon coating for free. (well nothing is free, a lot of aggravation went with it)

But yea its not an alarm or a security system, its not even a theft deterrent. Its a theft alert system. The alarms being mentioned in this thread are for point of entry, lojack is after your cars been stolen, to track it down.

By alarm are you including immobilizing. Pretty sure every car made nowadays can't be hot wired and is completely immobilized with out a key.(Not counting tow bandits. If a pro wants your car, it WILL be stolen, no matter what)

yup! viper has a pretty neat system which you can easily view the status of your car through your smartphone .. if the alarm is triggered is sends text messages as well..

Pretty much what lojack is, except lojack is on police scanners, and for the most part hidden from view. (obviously if they know you have lojack, they can hunt around under / in / through the car to find it) I imagine more secure than a gps receiver though
