coilover/tire question
whats going on guys, im about to order a set of BC BR extreme lows with 10k all the way around, depending on the answer to this question. if not i will be purchasing regular BC BR's with the same spring rates.
ok, so for the winter time i run a 205/55/16 snow tire on 16in forester wheels... now if i buy extreme lows and raise it as far is they go, will that tire size still fit with factory alignment measurements? im not a dedicated, keep my car low all year type of guy at all, id like to be able to raise it up for winter and down for "show season" ha. also for "show season" will i be able to fit a 235 in the front and a 255 on a 17x9i wheel? i just want to make my decision easier on the BC BR's and the extreme lows! any information would be highly apprecitated! |

Raising it up for winter should be fine. Which ever bc's you buy get the one with min setting between 0.8-1 and you should be fine. Don't forget to do realignments every time you adjust the height, since it'll change your toe.
235 on 9 might look a bit stretched compared to 255's. But it's doable if you are ok with the look. You understand that if you plan on dumping your car any more then and inch drop you'll have to get adjustable toe rods, enlinks, and lower control arms for the back right? Adjustable top hats might almost be needed for all that negative camber. Good luck tho, I'm sure it'll look sick.

I would recommend the "stock" 8k/8k bc racing coilovers over the custom 10k/10k. The 10k is very stiff for our cars and you'll be giving up ride quality. You'll only need the 10k if you're planning on dropping the car extremely low, like collars removed and whatnot.

.. or consider higher quality dampers. Penskes, AST, Tein SRC .. from their reviews they are comfortable enough with even higher spring rates, so i wouldn't write such rates as in general too unusable/too stiff.
