Rear bumper body repair respray question
I'm wondering what would be the best paint product for the brz rear bumper repair, GBS color. Can anybody recommend a good color matched product?
Car was tapped while parked. I have a some cracked, chipped paint and a small protrusion maybe 1"1/2 inch across. I'm thinking of taking on with a spot repair with the bumper removed and using the following tools: hand sanding 20, 180, ~~ 1000, 3000 grit sandpaper, heat gun, bondo (or other filler). |

Ive never found a color matched spray can that turned out decent. I would just have it claimed on the persons insurance that hit you or was it a hit and run?

I have a suspicion that you are not going to be happy with the outcome, unless you have the entire bumper re-sprayed...... humfrz |

HERE: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ I ordered sand paper, adhesion promoter, color, clear, primer, prep solvent, tape, and a sticky rag. Basically everything but a spray mask. Be patient, wait between coats. Better to do three light coats than one thick... Sand the primer. Have fun! wear a mask! Edit: I heat my spray cans in a cooler of hot tap water. Dry them off before use with compressed air. Try and paint at above 60F outside temp for best results. Last edited by Leonardo; 05-23-2016 at 03:14 PM. |

EDIT: +1 for wearing a mask. 2 stage clear coat CAN kill you if you aren't careful. |

with the grits you have listed, you're already in over your head. spot blends are pretty hack-ish, but they can look decent enough to get you by if that's all you're looking for. proper repair would be removing bumper. masking off lower section (non removable). repairing damage/spot prime. prep bumper. blend base coat. clear whole cover. install.

I'd recommend to get it all painted or put some decals.
Color matching is tricky and unless you doing like 1/2 bumper, imo not worth putting in the work.

Paintscratch can also match the paint. Bought from them before and I can say that they did a good job in matching the color and the quality of paint is good.
