I think it's mostly a reflection of economies of scale.

External kits, while nice, are 1) universal cores w/ vehicle-specific mounting points, and 2) universal adapters that can be easily adjusted to meet a car since 90+% of the cars out there use essentially two filter threads.

The Forester XT cooler is different (physically) from Cusco. Cusco doesn't sell nearly as many coolers as it takes to reduce the physical cost of producing these parts.

It may be worthwhile to get the Blitz/Perrin or other alternative external cooler, but keep in mind your ultimate need. Buying a cooler based on cost is probably the worst way to buy a cooler.

Bumping this up, but it looks like this kit will fit a '17 BRZ with a revised air intake?

This is a reply way too late, but still worth a reply.

Blitz came out with a different oil cooler kit for 2017+ cars, but not because the kit has fitment issues with the revised factory intake.

Rather, the bumper for 2017+ is shaped slightly different on the inside edges, so the cooler brackets + air guides are slightly changed to fit properly to the kouki model cars.

Do you happen to know the part number or SKU for the 2017+ kit?

Having trouble finding it on the Blitz Japan website.

My revised 2017 kit just arrived!

The packaging was superb and the quality is outstanding! The core is huge for a 12 row, bigger than my hand!

That's blue protective film over the ducting pieces, they're not anodized.

The Greddy OC kit has the same MSRP, doesn't have a 12 row core (only 10), doesn't have braided stainless hoses (nylon), and doesn't include air ducting for 2017+ models at the $850 price point. If you want the air duct, that's another $100.

Considering the kit comes with everything you need and it's all exceptionally high quality, I think the Blitz kit is a great value.

I didn't say I thought the Greddy was a better deal... just sayin I would never pay that much for an oil cooler.. To each his own! Glad you like it! Looks like a good kit

Actually the GReddy oil cooler has all of the above that you've mentioned, and even ducting specific to each bumper available, 13-16 and 17+.

The "only 10 rows" is enough to keep my oil under 230F, on track, durin 50 minute sessions at a power track like Laguna Seca where your on-throttle time is very high, with my GReddy turbo kit that uses an oil cooled turbo.

It doesn't appear to have braided stainless hoses, but I do stand corrected about the ports for sensors and the ducting for 17+ models. I originally looked and saw the note about the kit without the air ducting listed at $850 and thought that was the only one available for 17+ models. I edited my post for clarity.

So at $950 for the Greddy kit, I still think the Blitz kit is a better value due to the bigger core, braided stainless hoses, and $100 lower price with ducting included.

I've been installing my Greddy kit(MY17) last few nights. Both these kits look so clean. Really like them. I wonder how these both compare to the Jackson integrated radiator kit. Since they are all in the same price bracket (850, 950, 900).
