I paid an installer to install it because I have zero electrical knowledge. I didn't want to pay them to uninstall it, then pay them again to reinstall it if it was just a minor issue (the bulb). Since I've replaced the bulb, everything seems to be good now.

Without inspection I could only speculate. If your new bulb works fine, it could be that the old bulb was faulty and the root of all of your issues, OR that their kit is still wired like crap, but your new LED has better diodes to prevent the backflip of that ground, meaning that the issue is still there but you'll never have a problem as long as the diodes in that LED don't fail
