This isn't about getting substantially more HP, this is about getting more area under that power curve. I would be happy with 220 HP as long as the power is better distributed in the rev range. Unfortunately whatever this new engine may be, it won't be better than what came in the AP2 or DC5R, probably due to new and future emissions standards. Oh well, I'm definitely going to to buy a MY2015 car though, just not sure if its gonna be a BRZ or WRX.

Are you asking more under the curve? It is already better than others.

Even with the abnormalTorque dip at 4000rpm, the FA20 has fatter "LOW END TORQUE" compared to a comparable 2.0L engine (even the k20 of your DC5).

Here's an example:

Against F20 ... Well the tq dip really sucked but still shows more usable TQ at low rpm.

But just think how awesome this car would be without the torque dip.

I'd be happy if they smoothed out the torque dip and refined the engine further from the factory and made it breathe a bit easier for a bit of HP gain. I like the square bore and stroke.

So you don't think that those cars lacking things like ABS, seat belts, crumble zones, head rests, 4-10 airbags per car, traction control or stability control had nothing to do with traffic fatalities back then? Instead it was just wonky handling and lots of horsepower?

Hmmm, yeah okay man.

I wished little more HP when i got my BRZ and this is good news for future consumers but I wouldnt trade in for newer model for HP. i can simply have enough power with aftermarket parts. also it's going to be another routin that new issues we have to deal with like DI, cricket idle and etc. (hope not)

there will be another vehicle when new model of twin so.
basically enjoy what you have and decide when it acutally comes out in market.
or you'll be waiting for something forever because newer and better system comes out every 4-5 years

Where did I say that? We were talking about safety features (Traction Control) and what I said fully supports your idea that cars were less safe fifty years ago for a number of reasons.

I guess your point is that it isn't dangerous to drive this car sans traction control? That's a flame war I'm tired of.

still don't see this upgrade happening. maybe an upgrade option in the form of a TRD supercharger, but even then, i dont see a significant power boost throughout this generation. maybe a 5-10 hp boost like the rsx type-s and s2000 got in the later years. larger displacement would affect sales in europe and asian countries where taxes would shoot up. hybrid just seems out of the question due to price.

just find it funny how people keep demanding more power at this price range. can't have everything in one package. if we were talking about a 35k+ car...yes definitely, but at this price range, the car that's currently out right now is quite remarkable. certain aspects of this car (ie. low center of gravity, road feel, handling, RWD) you can't find in any other car in the price range. the thing that's the most easily upgradeable in the aftermarket is what this car lacks most. that's a better platform in all aspects than say a car that needs better handling or weight reduction.

Wish lists and hear say.....

Nothing will happen for power.

Start looking for a real sports car.

I only want about 10-30 more horsepower. But more importantly, it just needs more torque in the mid range to create a smooth torque band that gives you the same amount of push regardless of what revs you are at. I think the best way to achieve this is by increasing the displacement to 2.2-2.5 liters.

They did fine without traction control due to the fact of lower power numbers, but the people who owned the 427 cobras, the shelbys, the z51s of the day were actually good drivers. I have two cars that have no traction control and everyone that's driven them have been fine with them. ABS I agree with though.
