Fix your bumper gap for $0.40

After replacing the bumper clips twice and having the bumper pop back out between the side marker light and the headlight almost immediately both times, I decide it was time to get creative.

I looked into the gap with a flashlight and noticed that the part of the bumper that was supposed to catch on the bumper mount clip had deformed and was stretched upwards to that it would not stay on the retaining clip. So I thought I just need stuff something between the fender and bumper to keep it from slipping over the clip. It turns out that a dime is the right thickness and also the right diameter for the rear clip and if you snip off a little more than 1/8" on the dime going in above the forward clip then that works well too. I little RTV silicone sealer works well for keeping them in place and the dimes can be scraped out if you need to take the bumper off.

I have had this fix hold for a month and two track days now, where I never went more than 2 days previously with out it popping out.

What were you thinking, bruh. That's like four separate federal charges coming your way. You should have used foreign money,
like a Canadian moose dime, but now you'll spend the rest of your life on the run from the law for that $0.40.

Aren't washers cheaper?

Plus not a federal offence

According to Title 18, Chapter 17 of the U.S. Code it's a fine and/or imprisonment

Is there a black sedan down the road from your house?

Can you hear a click when you answer your phone?

They are videoing you and taking your prints off the crank handle. May not nab you then but now you are in the system so soon...

Actually it was a black Cadillac Escalade which showed up today and they closed down our R&D facility in San Jose. I wonder if I should put "Novel Anti-sag Bumper Solution" on my resume?

If I recall, this isn't illegal to do as it's not going to be re-used for actual value (I.E. to buy objects) or else those penny machines where you convert a penny into a different object would be illegal as well.

Do you need to remove the bumper and bumper clip to do this, or can you just insert the coins while the bumper is there?
