Spacers 20mm only rear, is a good idea?

Hello all,

I bought two pairs of spacers for my BRZ (15 and 20mm), but in the front I can't mount 15mm without removing material from the wheel because the bolts are touching with it, and I don't want to do that (is stock wheel)

What do you think about leaving only rear spacers (20mm) in terms of compromising the original geometry?

Could it be counter productive?

I would like to avoid buying 20mm spacers front because in my opinion is too much for the front

Thank you very much in advance

No haha, the problem is this one:

I don't have extended lugs, but it will touch anyway with the wheel when using 15mm spacers

My goal with the spacers is only aesthetics

More planted in the back. More likely to understeer. Possibly some other side effects, but nothing big. Probably nothing you would notice unless you're a 10/10ths guy at the track.

You have two options:

1. Cut (shave) the studs shorter. It is how guys are using thin bolt on spacers and wheels without pockets. I cut 10 in an hour with a hacksaw; my arm was tired. This is the cheapest option.

2. Install the 20mm spacers on front and get 25mm spacers for the rear. You could also go 20mm all around. This is the simplest option.

Option B: Have a beer! Sell the spacers!

Depends on the brand of rims and parts used.

Is it the studs or the nuts?

15mm spacers fit fine on my 86 with Enkei RPF-1 with low profile nuts.

This is what your 6" ruler is for.

What's the minimum thickness of the spacers for studs flushness? My wheels are almost flat on the hub...

This thread explains a lot about why people think spacers are unsafe, when in fact if done PROPERLY they are perfectly fine even on a race track under hard use.

I am beginner in tracks but I enjoy a lot, I dont think I would notice, but honestly I would like to avoid understeer

I am not comfortable by grinding the studs...I could do it wrong and screw up the thread or something, I have never worked on steel

20 mm spacers in front looks to me too much, thatīs why I am plannig to leave it like that, If there is not problem for the car dynamics

Yes... itīs a change in the suspension geometry, thatīs why I want to be sure. What do you mean by properly?

Widening the rear track will definitely add some understeer, but you might not notice it depending on your skill level and the rest of your setup.
