Edit. Sorry!! Didn't mean to revive this thread. Posted this on wrong thread

Also found out they when it does start, only after the prolonged cranking, the engine kind of stumbles to life.
He is trying to record it happening but hasn't gotten it yet. I found this video online and he said it does the same thing....

Also found there is a TSB for a crank sensor position. Which one of the causes is "hard to start"

Well since someone else revived this, i might as well chime in!

I've had this car since late 2015 and just today ive had this happen twice. Its been cold today in Ohio so maybe its just the weather but usual it takes half a second for my car to start but today (once at the mall on an incline and once after filling up) the car would crank 3 or 4 more times more than usual. I have had no CEL and my battery was hooked up to a tender all winter and ive been driving her for the past week without an issue.

Any idea what it could be?

Low battery. All the classic signs.

First thing to ever check if a car will not turn over is the battery. For some odd reason it seems to be the last thing many people think of.

$10 at Amazon.

I experienced this for the first time today. Once this morning. The engine was cold. Then a second time after coming back from lunch and once more at publix.

If it cranks strong but takes a while to start, you know the battery is fine and the starter is fine. The video in post #142 above isn't a battery or starter, there's another problem going on.

You have to diagnose what's causing the crank/no start condition. Start by checking fuel pressure (with the funky fueling system these cars have, I tend to think it's normal to do this sometimes and nothing to worry about). Then check to see if you are getting spark.

A voltage meter is great to have, but in the end, it's not a very good instrument to test a battery with. You need an actual battery tester (too much $$ for most people to keep on hand though). I've seen lots of batteries with 10.5 v (1 bad cell) crank a car with no problem because the other 5 cells have good cranking amperage. There again (more common) I see batteries every day with a good strong 12.5 V but wouldn't start a Civic because the CCA is so low.

So for 3 days now when the car is cold I turn the key and nothing happens (no cranking or anything). I turn the key off and back on and it starts right up. My car usually starts right up on first try. I dont think its the battery since it starts right up when I turn it the second time. Any clue? Also its a auto
