1) It's a BRZ, not an FR-S
2) I brought it in to the dealer because the check engine light was unpredictable. It would turn on one day and off on others. Nonetheless I brought it in. New cars shouldn't be throwing off check engine lights.
3) The shuddering happened every once in a while. I informed the service guys of this (WITHOUT mentioning this thread at all - I just said that the RPM will go down all the way to 400 or so and then shoot up. Also mentioned that it happened most often after highway driving followed by a stop sign.)
4) I brought it in to the Subaru dealer. Sure enough the engine tech said said, yep, there's a problem and you're the second guy in north america with it, we're calling subaru HQ and getting it fixed for you
5) A couple days later it was fixed.
6)

did you have to pay a diagnosis fee in order to have them look at it or was it all covered under warranty?

I just picked my FRS up yesterday and I have already noticed this. All I had to do was lightly put my foot on the throttle and it stopped. My first thought was throttle blade bouncing, since me barely placing my foot on the throttle fixed it, but I guess there's a fix in the thread already.

Naturally, I'm going to continue monitoring the issue... but I think it really just might be new-baby panic.
If this ECU learning thing would be happening it would be mentioned in the manual ...so people don't freak out!

I'm over 1800 miles and I'm still getting the problem. No missfires lately, and no cel yet, but it's not going away.

I wonder if they will refund the fee in the event that it is determined to be a warranty issue.

Go to another dealer then. I was able to take my Toyota and honda to the dealership to look at my concerns. And I was never charged any fees. Even though they found nothing wrong.

Open your hood and look at the engine, mine has an inconsistent idle so I looked under the hood, on my car you can see the AC pump engaging for about 2 seconds at a time every 5 seconds which is why it idles weird, The AC isnt on but for whatever reason it turns on the pump anyways. That seems to be my issue and I couldnt find anyone else saying this in the 17 pages (I did not read them all)
