Unlike the majority of mankind, you enjoy humor that does not come at the expense of another. So many people find humor in another's misfortune. I've noted that you don't do that.

You're a gentleman in my book. When it's time to choose up sides, I want you on my team.

I'd say the above applies equally to you, Anthony.

You'll make a good doctor, should you choose that path. You seem to have the right temperament for that job; you have a heavy dose of humility that too many doctors lack.

Entirely too many doctors think that "doctor" is spelled G-O-D. More often than not in our experience it should be spelled D-U-N-C-E.

Their arrogance is exceeded only by their egregious errors.

Coincidentally, the reason I even got interested in becoming an orthopedic surgeon at all was because of the two orthopedic surgeons I've dealt with, especially the most recent one. Unlike the various other surgeries I've undergone where the doctor was pretty much like, "ok, so we're going to do this, this, and this, then you're going to feel like this for X amount of time. The end. Be sure to pay your bill on the way out," they both explained the whole situation in depth and even went into the mechanics and short and long term repercussions of each option.

The big turning point for me was the first follow up I had after my shoulder surgery just two years ago. The surgeon was a really young Air Force captain and was extremely down to earth - a characteristic I like, but this guy was so much so that some people may have actually been uncomfortable with his tactics. Or maybe he just sensed I didn't want anything sugar coated, so he just told it like it was. But in the follow up appointment, he explained the actual experience of the operation. I already knew all the steps of the operation because I had a few options to choose from ahead of time, and was able to choose exactly how they put my shoulder back together, which was cool. But he even went to the extent of telling me how after he had drilled a hole through my clavicle and was attempting to tie it to another bone, he was having trouble, so he had to get an assistant practically beat my clavicle into place while he tied a knot in a cord he had threaded through my bones. Some people may have felt uncomfortable with how barbaric he made it sound, but I appreciated the hell out of it. It took all the glamour and mystery out of the super elitist world of doctors and surgery and made me realize it's simply problem solving through mechanics and biology. I was actually able to relate to it and imagine myself doing the same thing. I think I would enjoy it a lot!

I guess it kind of marinated in my subconscious for a while, because I didn't really give it much thought, but then suddenly one day about a year later I spontaneously realized that's what I wanted to do.

Well, first and foremost, you should report it to the internet. Which you did. Good job.

After that, I've got nothing. Scoop and score, I suppose.
