2017 EU BRZ in US?

I used to use Openflash tablet and it read the calibration code as ZA1JK00C which I believe is USDM, but when I switch to ECUtek it reads ZA1JK00G and it said it's a EU BRZ Is it common?

all the 2017+ manual tunes are based on the K00G ecu base

You tuner could tune it using the original calibration K00C or the alternate K00G

Then how can OFT allow different calibration to be flashed to an ECU?

How can they do without bricking the ECU?

you never brick the ecu even if you flash a different cal id, worst car doesnt start but you can always force a reflash
oft is a bit stupid, he doesnt notice when roms are hacked so if you hack a K00G to show like a K00C, oft just thinks that it is a real K00C, even if it s in reality is a K00G

The oft cgecks the ecu calibration id strings in roms and compares them to the original calid strings on the rom it read into itself when it was married to car. If the id strings dont match oft wont load roms into the oft

This is to stop people flashing incorrect roms to cars. like trying to load a nissan rom to an oft married to a brz.

However oft only checks 2 of fhe three calid strings, so its possible to fool the oft into loading different calids but you need too alter roms with hex editor. Not something you want to do unless you know exactly what your doing and that the rom your modifyibg is compatable with car

Auto roms dont work in manuals and some calid from newer cars are not compatable with older ones

If the rom is a brz\86 rom and its not corrupted it wont brick ecu, but if its corrupted or not from a brz\86 its possible to brick the ecu.

It should be recoverable if you have correct tools but sometimes not ann easy process

Just ran into a similar problem. The shop who helped me install the supercharger loaded the SC map onto the ECU before they unload the OFT map, and now I can't un-marry the tablet from my car. If I reload the stock map stored in the OFT, will it erase the ECUtek license on my car? And will it cause any problem for using a OFT stock map to overwrite a ECUtek map, and then overwrite the OFT stock map with a ECUtek map again?

you are screwed, you would lose ecutek license if that would work which i dont think so, anyway the OFT you have now is bricked so you would have to send back to Shiv or steve in australia to unbrick it

Unfortunatly tom brz is correct.

Ecutek embedds licoence in ecu. If you overerite ecutek fladhed cars with any otjer tuning device other than ecutek then licience is lost.

The oft cannpt write to ecutek tuned cars unless you flash back stock map with ecutek to unlock the ecu from the ecutek lock.

The only way out is for your tuner to ask ecutek if they will renew your ecutek licience if you write over it with oft.
