Rookie Stage : Official Drag Races in FRS

Going out to race my FRS was so fun, this was the exact reason why they designed the car in the first place. Love going all out on the drag strip. I documented the day, so if you have time stop by & check it out. Can't wait to go back & get a better time !

Thanks for sharing your video.

I reckon since you don't have any mountain roads or curves in Ohio, drag racing is the thing to do -

HAHA! Unfortunately there isn't mountain roads or curvy routes to conquer. Plan to go to an autocross event soon though, before going to a track. That's where the car shines anyways.

Yep, people will be more impressed with watching your FR-S dodge cones, rather that watch it lumber down a 1/4 mile drag strip - after watching other stock cars go down in less than 10 seconds -

Swap drag strip with something not a straight line and I'd agree

Like other have said, it is one of the worst possible choices of cars to win drag races.
Like you have said, it is still fun and taking it to the strip is a great way to open it up without huge risk so I for one applaud you for it.

I know this feel. It's rad you got out there and had a good time. If nothing else, you hone your reaction times, precision, and have some fun.

Thanks for the video!

The good thing about drag racing vs autocross is that you don't have to spend 2 hours picking up after other racers in the Summer Sun. Autocross is more rewarding to me though =D

What do you mean (picking up after other racers) ? I plan to autocross soon, agree that it'll be more rewarding.

When you're racing around the course, if you hit a cone, someone has to pick it up. These are people who are also participating in the event, not a paid employee or something.

So people will be designated as racing or working or resting in each heat.
If you're working, you're most likely designated a corner for picking up cones and letting the trailer know if a racer went the wrong way. There are some workers who are at the start line, or doing something else, but most are at the corners.

Don't let this discourage you, it's not that much work, just sucks when it's really hot. You being up North, it might be cooler this time of year. For TX, it's still hot, so I may not go to another event until the one in Mid-October.

You get an "attaboy!" for taking it to the track and not street racing.

15.8 lol wow. The car doesn't feel like a almost 16-sec car, at least.

LOL @ "Monica!!!!"

Even though the FR-S ain't no drag car, taking it to a track, any kind of track is better than hard parking it. Doesn't matter if it's drag strip, autocross or road course.

Plus the practice you got from launching 1st gear and chirping 2nd will come in handy on autocross.

Carlos Lagos from Motortrend got 14.9 at 1/4 mile. If you can get that, then at least you're good enough to race Carlos lol.
