Ultimately, it comes down to the 718 GT4 is significantly heavier than the outgoing model, which is light relative to its competition, but not exceptionally light. It's a great "kinda does it all" car, but really, is undeserving of the Porsche GT designation. To me, the parts bin nature of the 981 was a great selling point, particularly the engine; they're proven, mature parts that won't fail under use.

On the plus side, I'm curious as to how useful the factory alignment range will be on the 718.

Absolutely. Any day at the track is a good day.

Hard to say about a supercharged twin. I believe it would be pretty close given equal tires. Quite possibly the nod the twin.

ZL1 is one of the best bang for the buck cars out there. Z06 as well. No doubt they are on the top of the scale for performance per dollar.

Parts bin for sure, but that enabled a 86k base and under 100k you could dip your feet into porsche GT. - essentially a 991.1 GT3 front clip with brakes and suspension. Although the rear wasn’t the multi spoke like the Gt3. The 3.8 From the Carrera S. Carbon buckets from the 918.

At the time less than the price of lightly optioned base Carrera.

^I'd argue otherwise, if you've ever had the pleasure of driving one on the track.

The GT4 RS will not have the GT3 engine. No way that Porsche will do that.

Well, speaking as someone who was born in 85'; so I guess technically too young to be considered gen Y, although that's the generation I feel like I most relate to, some of us do have an appreciation for Porsches.

I am definitely a fan of the GT4! I have been lucky enough to have a go behind the wheel of a few Porsches and all I can say is if you can't afford the GT3 DO NOT drive it, I repeat do not drive the GT3, it will ruin you and you won't want any of Porsches other sports car offerings.

If you are worried about what other people think about you, you are essentially f*cked in life because someone out there will ALWAYS have a problem with what you are doing, so if you go off that then you can't do anything that makes everyone happy all the time.

My town is filled with staunch liberals and hardcore conservatives so pretty much you have to be rolling coal or driving an EV to fit in, anywhere in between and you're an outcast (me).

I can't afford a GT3 quite yet but I would love a Cayenne Turbo or Panamera Turbo that's depreciated to 1/5 of the original msrp as a fun daily driver. I'm looking at 2011-2013 model years, specifically a 1 owner car that's been well maintained. Obviously I'll look for some kind of 3rd party warranty. So P car guys how worried should I be buying one of these cars?... (sorry to thread jack)

Honestly a Macan S or Turbo would be more fun to drive than any Cayenne/Panamera in similar price range. And a used 911 more fun than any of those. If you can't afford a GT3, why not a 911 instead? Don't have to throw out the baby with the bathwater and jump to a 4200+ lb boat.

I already have an LS3 in my brz along with everything needed to support it, so I’m more than covered in the fun department. Obviously I’m biased but with 450 whp 3100 lbs with a full tank and me in the car it’s more fun than a GT4. Also has OS Giken diff and JRZ RS2 suspension.

I really need a fun family car. I looked at Macans and you have to be 5 feet tall to fit in the backseat totally kills it for me. What’s the point of having 4 doors if you can’t actually fit 4 normal size adults in the car? I’m only 6 feet tall and wasn’t even close to being able to fit in the back. Hence the Panamera vs Cayenne.

I'm 6'2" and fit in the back of a Macan...but I don't remember how far forward the front seat was...

Plenty of leg room, that’s not the problem. Maybe you have a short torso or mine is long? The problem is head room, literally have to uncomfortably tilt my head to the side or it’s smashed against the sloped roof.

Could be. I never have headroom issues. If I don't fit, it's always a legroom issue.

I don't have enough legroom in the Cayman, but even with a helmet on there's probably 2 inches of clearance before hitting the ceiling.
