accessory belt pensioner pulley

My accessory belt pensioner pulley bounces up and down, like there is half an inch, if not more, vertical movement.

i've never paid attention but i don't think this is normal?

can anyone confirm if it's supposed to move like that.

One of the techs at the dealer noticed this on mine as well. He replaced it and it doesn't bounce nearly as much now.

I thought it was normal. I've read it is normal. Is it not normal?

It's been talked about before; and we all came to conclusion that it was normal.

It happens all the time... Them old pensioners get the parkinson's and start shakin'...

Seriously though, mine does it as well. I thought it was odd the first time I noticed it, as none of the tensioners on my other cars move around like that. Weak springs? or is this a Subaru thing?
