I dropped it into the water in neutral and then waited until the nose was clear of the water before putting into 1st and pulling away. No stalling or CEL, so I guess I'm okay.

Does anyone have the OFH or even a catless header that I could possibly hear in person? I'm looking at getting the OFH and OFT but don't want it to be too loud. Thanks

Is it worth the extra price in your opinion?

That's the Sunol station. I don't think higher octane helps unless you have a tune that can run the higher octane.

actually 94 octane does help... I don't know if the FR-S manual says it, but there is a place in the BRZ owner's manual (p. 420) that says:

Quote:
The engine is designed to operate at maximum performance using unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 93 AKI (98 RON) or higher. If 93 AKI (98 RON) fuel is not readily available in your area, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 AKI (95 RON) may be used with no detriment to engine durability or driveability. However, you may notice a slight decrease in maximum engine performance and you may hear some knocking (pinking) of an engine while using 91 AKI (95 RON) fuel. Use of 91 AKI (95 RON) fuel will not affect your warranty coverage.
So it is basically saying that if you run 91octane it's "ok" but 93 is best and what the engine is designed for.

Yup, like P said, our cars are designed for the higher octane, but I think if you've been filling up with the standard 91, your car already has made adjustments (ie pulling bacj the timing, etc) to optimize itself/compensate for the crappy fuel. I would guess you would need a couple of tanks of 93 for the ecu to readjust to feel any difference.

94 octane is worth about 0.001 horsepower.
