Scion is an ok company...they needed the FRS to stay afloat I think...If toyota had the same vehicles the price tag might go up a few Ks

Abolishing the brand entirely is a bit harsh.
For years Toyota themselves made boring cars, they've even admitted it. The Scion brand was far more 'exciting' than Toyota themselves. Lexus is well, Lexus as always. If you go to Toyota, you'll notice that it's pretty much impossible to get anything except MAYBE a Corolla new for under 20K (and to me that is the lamest car Toyota makes). Lots of the Toyotas start at 25K-30K and go into the 40K-50K range when you start adding options. This isn't a brand for younger people, thus Scion was created. So with Scion now you have cars that are more appealing to younger generations. On a given day you can see many tCs and even xBs. Those cars are relatively inexpensive and are reliable under Toyota. Once those generations get older, they move up to the Toyota brand and get the Camry, Highlander, Tundra, or maybe even FJ. Then as they make it up to baller status or whatever, they get the Lexus. Without Scion, Toyota will have a hard time getting younger people, and that will affect the number of people going to their more 'mature' brands. But I agree that as a matter of brand pride and principle, all performance-oriented sports vehicles should be released under the main brand. Yes, I think the FR-S should be a Toyota, as should the LFA and IS-F. If you're going to put your engineering peen on the table, at least stamp it with your name and not some marquee. I think Honda should have done the same with the NSX too. This is one thing that American brands understand, Chevy Camaro/Corvette, Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger/Charger/Viper.

It comes down to an emblem in my opinion. My FRS could have a giant metallic tomato as an emblem and I couldn't care less. It's about the vehicle itself, not the name brand or emblem behind it.

Most definitely merge Scion into Toyota and name it all Toyota. They can kill off the xA, xD, and iQ while they're at it and just keep the FR-S, tC, and xB.

I don't think Toyota should get rid of Scion they made the brand for their fun cars they just need more fun cars to put in it. They have a good start with the FR-S a few more and Scion could be the brand to get.

I think Toyota would have been better off just keeping these cars Toyotas and not creating a different brand. Here are my reasons:
- Terrible pure price and mono spec philosophies limiting the customer's ability to get a lower price or to get the options they really want with the car. If the FR-S were sold by Toyota here, I would almost certainly have the ability to get an equal trim and options as the Subaru BRZ. - These cars are sold as Toyotas everywhere else in the world so they aren't really anything other than a Toyota vs Lexus which is supposed to mean a better Toyota. It's almost like the Scion brand was created to signify that it's a crappier Toyota. Plus, Toyota has a pedigree of racing and such; Scion has nothing. - Scion marketing creates the image of a young, immature buyer/driver. This is not what I would like myself or this car to be associated with - although I don't really care what others think that much. My current car is associated with Fast and Furious so I've learned to live with it. - Going off of the previous statement, the options they do have are blingy cosmetic body kits, lights, and super sound systems. It's fine if people want to personalize their car in that way but I feel that's more of an aftermarket thing and not what a lot of driving enthusiasts care for. What I would like to see is real performance and functional upgrades offered (especially those offered in Japan).

If they get rid of Scion, the FR-S will probably become a rare car

i have no problem with scion but making it a toyota we would of had more trim options and yea it would of been more expensive for sure but it would of been nice. the mono trim that scion keeps on all its models bites sometimes.

I posted my negative points about Scion but let me say a few positive things about it:
- The logo looks kind of cool to me. And I like the FR-S name. - Not everyone knows or recognizes the brand/logo so they may mistake it for something exotic. - I suppose their trim selection could have been worse so at least it isn't a complete disaster. But that's not saying much compared to nearly every other car company. So with that said, if Scion were to change to be more like Toyota, I would be OK with it. But if they don't, then I think they're better off chalking it up as a failure and bringing the cars back under Toyota.
