Tires after you added boost...

I'm getting boosted next week .

2017 PP BRZ with 43k, E85, JDL UEL, Borla 140496 catback and Pirelli cinturato strada sport AS 225/40/18 squared.

Getting a Jackson c38, dw fuel injectors and fuel pump, radium pcv catch can and velox hood vents installed with Neal at the Racersline in Concord, CA.

Wondering about tires with the additional power? Current ones slip a tad in first. Thinking they'll slip even way more after it's all said and done. Car is a daily driver that enjoys spirited twisties.

Anyone here had the same experience or can share some advice?

Yeah you have cheap all season tires duh.
Current mods don't mean jack.
My grandmother can spin those tires on her '95 corola.

Get proper summer tires. Find something with a thread wear of 350 or lower. Fire-hawk Indie 500 are the best bang for the buck out there

At some point, 1st gear will spin no matter what you do.

Get some new wheels and try a set of 255/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

225 all season + FI = say good bye to first gear.
245-255 would be good for your power.
You live in Cali so no point in not running a summer tire.
Swapping to a lower FD like 3.9 or 3.7 or even 4.1 will help a lot too. Especially since your 2017 is a 4.3 that ain’t helping either.

He lives in Folsom California just east of Sacramento where the average temperature is like a million degrees. Did you see that?

Dude, OP, follow these guy’s advice. Get the MPSS. Unless you are heading up the mountain to the snow multiple times every year, those all seasons are worthless. Just save them as a spare set, and swap them out right before you head up. Summer tires are the best in the dry or wet, so lose those snow tires.

But does he really need ultra grippy tires for JRSC though? Actually curious cause as far as I can tell from what I’ve read about the kit, the power is not all that overwhelming and arrives high up in the rev range

I have cheap summer tires, BFG sport comp, but they are 265 in the rear, which is decent, but they get no traction at WOT in first and poor in second, and if the road conditions are poor (bumps and/or broken up asphalt) then 3rd can break loose, and that is on dry days, but admittedly they do much better once they are really warm. I would say the JRSC would probably be a little weaker down low, but with a header, catback, E85, etc, there will be plenty of power to be squirrelly in 1st and 2nd with poor summer tires. It is worth paying for some decent tires. My next set will be MPSS.

We get the same temp all over California, that means jack shit.
I agree get the MPSS cause a chump like him should over spend on mediocre tire that gets out performed by cheaper tires. Just use the comparison tool on any tire website. It's not that hard.

I will second Indy firehawks. Get them in 245 if your rims can handle it.

I wouldn't be myself if I didn't pipe up and advocate for a 200tw tire. The Azenis RT615k+ are great for straight up launch grip after you heat them up a little.
The Bridgestone RE-11 are also a great tire, and the Nitto NT05 are an overlooked tire as well.

Please heed our advice - size does not = grip. If you had 275/35 tires in an m&s compound, you'd spin them stock.

Well there are places that snow in California that could necessitate getting all season tires, so location does matter. Folsom’s average low temperature is like 50 degrees, which almost never gets close to freezing, so getting all seasons over any priced summer brand is odd like packing a winter jacket when visiting Dubai “just in case”.

You are going to spin with any street tire and that HP when you push the pedal on the right too much. I burned thru my 255 Mpss in no time, but had fun.

My brz has seen snow on 80 to Reno a few times. But I don't think I'll be driving in those conditions ever again...
