Limited Slip diff oil Motul GEAR 300 LS 75W-90

I have 3 liters of Motul GEAR 300 LS 75W-90 limited slip differential oil. Picked them up in US. Not avaible in Canada other wise.
Local pick up in Ottawa. Paid $90 then I had to drive down to pick them up. asking $90 for the 3lt.
The diff capacity is 1.2 lt. This will be good for two fluid change.
Thank you.

That's not the right stuff for our diff's. We don't need LS (which has a friction modifier) which is for clutch type diff's.

^Actually the stock fluid has a friction modifier. Either can be run but the LS is preferred.

http://www.motul.com/fr/en/products/recommendation

I run the LS in mine and compared to the non-LS which I ran in my last FR-S, the rear end is much smoother and a lot less chatter.

Hate to say it though, but you can get this in Canada. The main distribution center is in Vaughan.

Thank you sir.

You can not get this in Canada as per distributors of Motul and contacts provided by Motul. Please feel free to contact Motul and their distributors.

Call Performance Improvements. They can get it. Just got 3L myself a few months back.

They order through a US distributor, though, which could be how they get around it.

This has been beaten to death across more than this forum. Torsens do not require friction modifiers, there are no benefits to having that additive package in our differential.

Straight out of the shop manual:
Rear differential gear oil Differential gear oil LX or GL-5 standard

(note LX is Toyota's branded rear diff oil)

Your right, it has been beaten to death. But telling the guy selling that he's wrong based on a bunch of forum banter is not helping.

If you read about Toyota fluids, LT is for non-LSD and LX is for LSD equipped vehicles. Since this car is sold with and without (depending on where it is sold in the world), the specifications call for LT on non and LX on those with LSD's. Don't you think Toyota would do that for a reason? If the viscosity is the same, then there must be something else in it! That folks is called a friction modifier, which by design is to minimize or eliminate chatter, noise, vibration, and harshness (that's right out of the Toyota fluids guide ) produced from vehicles equipped with an LSD. You don't need clutches to get chatter. That will come naturally when the car attempts to "limit slip" between both drive wheels. LSD's are not buttery smooth. They are gears at the end of the day and will bind, hence the chatter.

GL-5 is just a general standard for gear lubes (GL stands for Gear Lubricant). It just defines that an oil may contain up to a specific amount of anti scuffing (read: anti wear) contents as required for severe applications. This is generally why all performance fluids for drivetrain are GL-5. Even engine oils have this. Differentials are rated at GL-5 or above because of the shock loads they take, therefore classing them as more severe applications.

Now, again, will it hurt? Probably not. But the friction modifier is recommended for a reason and having personally driven this car with both installed, I can honestly tell you that the rear end is significantly smoother and more consistent with the Gear 300 LS than without.

I don't want to turn this into a pissing match, though, I just want to advise some people here who are providing false advise and potentially limiting this person's ability to sell what he's posted. At the end of the day, put rocks in your rear end for all I care. But for those that want to do it right, the Motul Gear 300 LS is a great choice.
