If your using a higher viscosity oil to add pressure, are you still lacking flow because of the OC? Pressure and flow are two different things here..

Sans-thermostat plate here, with a 1qt core, daily temps are right about 185-190F at the sandwich plate in stop and go during the day. Temps are about 175-185F during the cooler night time. Oil is 0w30 German Castrol.

I'll be logging and watching temps at VIR next week to see what sort of heat is generated. Logging peak/hold via a prosport sender and comparing to OBDII. The factory and my sender are quite close to each other, so it will be interesting to see how wildly they vary.

It's probably pretty important to add to the thread - oil temps are going to vary greatly depending where you are taking your reading. If you are using OBDII (torque, etc), you will probably see a more inaccurate reading, as opposed to an aftermarket gauge and sender. I wouldn't live or die by the obdII readings. You may even see a 30F+ difference between the reading at the filter and a reading in the pan.

I am the designer and manufacturer of the sandwich plate, We are still working on getting the production numbers up to try and support everyone let down by other offerings. currently we are just trying to keep up with Robi's orders for his cooling solution but in the coming weeks we will be able to batch these far more effectively. We are working VERY hard to keep these reasonable in price even though obviously there is far more involved here than a simple Cast adapter with no thought to integration on a specific platform...did I mention made in the USA form domestic source 6061-T651 Aluminum and 304SST for the center post, ORB fittings to the AS spec and I make the ORB-AN's in house because I couldn't find offerings in the aftermarket that actually met the AN spec for ID with the optional radius entry?

I happen to be one of those waiting patiently.

I will not track anymore without the cooler as 270+ will take its toll eventually.

I know this thread is ancient and plenty of people have probably covered everything a ton of times, but I recently installed the mishimoto 19-row cooler and an AEM temp gauge (mounted the sensor into the mishimoto sandwich plate).

My first track day with it won't be for a few weeks, but so far so good. The kit went together REALLY easily and fit perfectly aside from needing to shave a bit of extra plastic off the oil fill cap to clear the temp probe from that side of the sandwich plate. Zero leaks, everything flows nicely and the gauge has shown me how freaking effective the 19-row cooler is. Holy cow.

use quality parts and it won't be an issue.

Parts list here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=126

Its around $400 iirc, but that was years ago so prices may have gone up. RacerPartsWholesale.com is cheapest (and linked in the list I shared)

Keep those banjo bolts tight. I've seen more than a few engine bay fires from them backing out under heat/vibration/pressure.

Re-torque them the night before your track day, and regularly re-torque them to make sure they fail.

Heck, even safety wire it if you can.

Will do. I've been peeking every few days now, but good to know - i'll definitely make it part of the routine around track days. Thanks!
