Man, Toyota is stupid in Canada...

I've check the price for the Scion FR-S in 2016 VS the new 86.

*All the price are with prep without taxes.

Scion FR-S 28 413$
Toyota 86 31 535$
----------------------
Diff of 3120 $ !?!?!

In Canada, the price of the base Subaru BRZ is 29 760$. At that price you got the rear spoiler (Installed on all model over here) and the GPS !??! If you take a Sport Tech (your Limited), it's only 200$ more than a 86 and you got the push start/key less/bi-zone hvac/GPS/Fog light/Alcantera-Leather interior etc etc...

I've emailed Toyota... Let's see...

I really hope they made a mistake or my next ZN6 will wear some stars....

Where are you guys finding all these high MSRPs? All I can find is the $27K one. Since most of the dealers in Ontario were selling the 13s to 15s for $28K to $29K I don't see this $2K to $3K jump everybody keeps talking about. I am obviously missing something someplace.

@Tcoat
Not sure where you see the 27K$
If you build the car, the MSRP is 29580$ before the 1700$ prep.

Maybe they left a lot of room for negotiation, else they are not going to sell many. Toyota interest rate are a little lower than Subaru, but not by much.

OK found where I was going wrong!

Yikes, that is a hell of a jump in the MSRP.

Now, since many Scion dealers were selling the older models for around that anyway then maybe if the Toyota dealers don't try to bump that up they may be OK.

What a rip-off. Like someone said, it's the same price as the BRZ limited...
Because it comes with similar interior and exterior features? the new model is more inline with the Monospec or RS models

How is that?

no dual zone climate control
no start/stop button with prox key
no multi function display in dash
no leather/heated seats
no fog lights

its the base model scion with new bumpers and lights for a few extra thousand dollars

IMO Toyota is fvcking this up big time on the pricing. Bring it back down to $26-27k and we will talk. Otherwise I'll be talking to Subaru for the Sport Tech package for $29k. Much more value there!

I know not all dealers charged above MSRP but finding a 16 for $26 to $27 is no easy feat either.

Damn, if the Monospec is that much up there in Canada, just imagine if they start making the premium options available...

I'm starting to re consider the 86... might just have to go with a BRZ for roughly around the same price. Unless Toyota can give me a banging deal which I highly doubt even if im part of their loyalty program.
I'm not sure if the Toy has an FRS monogram-type still around, but mine has everything a BRZ has and more. It was quite a bit more $ though.

That is where comparing prices across countries gets tricky and confusing. Everything here appears more expensive but since we make more it all evens out. A can of Coke can be $1 there and $1.25 here, But a person doing the exact same job can make $10 there and $12 dollars here so in the long run things actually cost the same. Our income to cost ratio is pretty much exactly the same as the US.

And PLEASE nobody apply the exchange rate and say "well the car actually only cost $26K" since we are not buying our domestic products in US dollars.

Nope, there were only 2000 Monograms offered, and the majority of those were automatic. The RS 2.0 had all the features of the Monogram though, plus a little more. They could bring it back for MY17.

I wasn't talking so much about USD vs Maple Leaf coins. I just meant that the price difference between the 86 and old FRS seems pretty big up there. That gap will only get widened if they offer deluxe features too. The same would be true for America. An 86 with all the bells and whistles would probably be around 29k down here. In contrast, the Monogram was $27,400 MSRP.

AHHH I get ya then. Yes, I have said many times that the guys screaming for all the bells and whistles the rest of the world got are going to be sadly disappointed when they find out the will not get the cars at Scion prices. The rest of the world paid big bucks for those goodies and so will we.
