Not so bad if you have snow tires.

A week after Hurricane Sandy we had an unusual early snow. On a couple of unplowed inches, I couldn't get up a mild grade in Northern Westchester County, and in fact, suffered a slow perpendicular slide off the road. Luckily, two massive Hydro-Quebec trucks that were in the area providing post Sandy support, came down the road, attached a cable and pulled me out of the ditch. Vive le Québec.

Heeding this early warning, I purchased 4 Blizzack WS70s on steel wheels from tirerack.com ($842.68 delivered), and mounted them several weeks ago. In the recent 10" storm, with two cases of wine in the trunk for added weight, my BRZS performed well. I live in a hilly area of NYC (yes, there are). Traveling behind several rwd vans and SUVs that were sliding, fishtailing and having trouble going uphill, I had complete control, steady acceleration and firm grip.

I'd say that if you drive your BRZ in snow (going skiing?), you must have snows mounted.

I submit. I'll be the one.

I live in Nassau County on li and I was driving until 9ish pm. After that I parked at my friends house. Didn't notice the snow accumulating and then was plowed in at 12am.

Granted it would have been easier with snow tires but I've dealt with worse.

Realistically though, I kept to flat roads because if there was any sort of incline that would force me to slow down on I would be screwed.

Anyone else still without power? I was a little underprepared for this; we don't have a generator at my house and was starting to see my breath inside. Had some trouble getting my snowblower started but it finally fired up and we got dug out. I only had 1/4tank of gas in our AWD Mercedes E320 so we packed up my mom's Camry (sketcchhyy on all-season tires) and headed down to "Fort Campbell" a.k.a. my friend John's house where all our friends gathered at because they had no power either. Finally my feet are warm! Hey, at least I get a few days off from work!

Or a Jeep....

I went out and some areas I was able to get through would have stopped a WRX dead.
