I do care about 0-60 times. Please keep posting them, including list of mods!
It doesn't matter that "most dont't care about it", when some do. |

Under 6 seconds with e85 and ofh. Car seems to do better when you dust the tire through first gear. Not practical for normal driving of course

If he wants to compare data then he needs to provide comparable data. Otherwise it is useless info.

Which is generally either for the purpose of having a pissing contest, or to
Compare and validate the benefits of certain modifications. In either case you need a set standard in which to compare. I’d much rather compare acceleration numbers over dyno numbers assuming the proper criteria is met. Which most do not. |

I'm sure my best was around 6 seconds. You need to spin a bit to avoid the car bogging out and making sure that you spend the most time possible in the higher part of the powerband. When I was able to do a 0-60, I found that conventional launch control hurt my times. Letting the clutch out while the RPM were on the upswing (rather than bouncing in place) meant the inertia from the flywheel let the wheels spin and not bog because of how slow I was actually going. When I got grippy tires, I could not get a good 0-60 no matter what without risking a broken axle, so I stopped caring. When I went turbo, I couldn't use the first 2 gears anyway, so 0-60 was out of the question. 20 to 60 maybe would've been ok.

Personally, I like acceleration measurements as a complementary to dyno measurements. You can check below (video at 4:30) how some mature tuners are checking their mods. Don't like to start again a BRZ vs. Cayman comparison, but we can learn from the work of others .
However, it doesn't make much sense to measure times from lunch. You are adding many more parameters to have a meaningful comparison and besides you are hurting your clutch! Acceleration measurements from 2nd gear are usually better. |

6.5 from his first post.
I think MT or someone did 6.6 or 6.7 in a stock car. They did repeated runs so could have been warm tires and low fuel. I think the 2850 launch is way too low. I was launching mine at 3800-4k.

I tried launching at 5,500, 4k, 3,860, 3k all too much wheel spin and hit redline to fast to react in time. 2,860 launch seemed to be my sweet spot.

Lower your rev limit a bit. And let it hit a few times before taking second. Bet you get a quicker time

Ask yourself this is it the time that matters or the feel? I can drive in a twisty road and go maybe 45 mph tops but the feeling as the car goes through the turns is fun.
For straight line you need FI or v8 and lots of low/mid torque to have fun. Driven plenty of muscle cars and they are great until you hit that turn. For me the more I think about it, it’s the low weight of the BRZ that helps it shine. Driven many fast cars with gobs of power but the weight just makes them pigs in the turns. The BRZ is like a go-kart. |
