Hey guys,

Just thought I would give you an update on the translator I have been working on. Some of you may remember I started this about 18months ago and released a few test units to overseas (we are based in Australia and at the time had no LS swapped 86 vehicles to test on). Unfortunately I lost control of these test units and found out at least one got to someone who was trying to reverse engineer it.
I put the whole thing on hold for a while and have only recently started working on it again. There are now a few people in Australia that have done the conversion and have used these to test the latest translator using a stock LS ECU.
Latest testing has proved a success and have got the following sorted.

Tachometer
Coolant Temperature
Power Steering
MIL light
Oil Pressure/Level Low Light
ABS-VDC-Traction control - Reported to be functioning (one of the test vehicles participated on a track day), warning lights go out. More thorough testing to be done, including the adjustable sensitivity/gain control.
Fuel Gauge and MPG working (yet to confirm how accurate it is however it seems on the mark so far)

Have just added code for AC (both manual and climate control)
Have also added code to get the 86 cruise control switch and sub system to work with the LS ECU. These are yet to be tested.

The translator also supports the two generations of GM canbus systems (early to ~07 and later 07+ to Australian models), however the early model has only the basic functions working at present (tachometer/temp/mil/oil pressure etc). It automatically detects which canbus system is in use and configures itself. The same unit also works for GM to Subaru (early and late) and GM to Nissan. It also has hard wired temp and RPM inputs to suit other engines.

Check out the website for more information.

http://agtengineering.com.au/canbus.html

Unfortunately due to the previous bad experiences, I will not be releasing any units overseas until they are 100% fully functional and tested. This is hopefully not too far away now.

Sorry to those who have messaged me on the forum in the last 12 months, it must have been that long since I last logged on.

Cheers.
Andrew.

Sorry I missed your PM.

I haven't done any additional development. No vehicle has been available to me.

I know a guy LOL, think we all do.

CF6 has exhausted all financing doing this project....sigh!.....or he would have shipped the car to Cincy and let Colin figure the gateway device to completion....The last expense was the front sway bar from Vorshlags incomplete kit to finally reach my goal of a track worthy car and now its being done as we speak, one unlimited track day proved even a frs is a waterbed on 4 wheels without them....still had a riot though....sorry for the hijack.

I haven’t verified this but this is what the guy from element tuning wrote me:

Thank you for your interest in Element Tuning. We've sold thousands of our EMS but it's for many applications within the Subaru platforms. As far as success we have nearly all Global Time Attack track records with the GST Motorsports Impreza and we've had numerous track records/championships with our STi. We developed the FRS/BRZ platform in 2013 and have probably the fastest and most successful FRS time attack car out there. So this isn't a new product, we've simply decided to adapt it to offer a better and easier way to transplant an LS in place of the FA20.

Given motor swaps are very common reason people purchase our EMS, I wanted to offer the same plug an play solution for a different brand of engine. The LS is a very simple motor compared to the FA20 so frankly that was easy. The hard part was the original development of the EMS to be fully CAN integrated but as stated it's been that way for years.

Now we offer a plug in EMS and a plug in engine harness for the LS3 swap. We have people who are swapping with the LS2 but the 58 tooth trigger if the LS3 is superior and it should be used. It's all fully integrated so you have full functionality of the electronic steering, stability control, gear based programmable traction control, all the dash tach, speedometer, odometer, gas, etc function, all your oem climate controls function, the CAN diagnostics will communicate with oem manufacturer's equipment for testing ABS, airbags systems, your fuel pump controller, pump, and lines can all be left oem, all fans and AC function as oem.

The bottom line is this is a one of a kind product for this swap. With years of proven performance on the platform and about 1.5 years racing our LS swap FRS, there really aren't any surprises. The EMS with the engine harness is about $2500.

Has anybody used this EMS?
