Washer Mod?
Bring out the haters.
I'm about to go unbolt my axel back, and stick 4 washers between the bolts on the pipe. I'm assuming it's going to sound just like a muffler delete would. What's the down-side to running, well, basically an exhaust leak? Worse MPG? |

You might end up with something like this happening
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7IgBEyxjKc&feature=relmfu"]video of the aftermath.[/ame] Here's the thread I got the video from. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=478790 Edit: Nevermind, looks like some people in that thread are having luck with the washer mod. |

There are some high school kids roaming the site so I wouldn't be surprised.

To make more noise. Old school V-8 with headers trick... if you ran the washers it was louder, more like a loud exhaust leak......gains nothing, except the looks of the man every time you go by them. Gonna sound like a ricer....maybe gas yourself and set the back end on fire. Maybe you could do some drifting with the back end in flames, now that'd be cool...

Considering the race pipes sell for 125 or less I'd be hard pressed to think it's worth the risk to do it any other way.

I have been running this "mod" for about a week now. I have noticed no downsides (melted, or even hot bumper, exhaust fumes/smells, loss in power/torque etc.) The only benefit is sound, and it mentally makes you drive faster.
