Recently I pushed my luck as far as I care to. The light went on as I was passing a station but about 50 miles ahead it was going to be close to 50 cents a gallon cheaper so I got on the interstate and hypermiled all the way there. Surprisingly it took less than 11 gallons

You need to channel your inner 14 year old more effectively.

You say "channel." I say "restrain."

I ran out of gas once in my old e46. Somehow managed to simultaneously blow my radiator expansion tank too which is bizarre because they are completely unrelated. Boy that was fun. Trooper blocked off the entire highway and pushed me over to the shoulder for a tow as i was leaving behind a green snail trail. Ended up destroying my fuel pump needless to say.

ah the memories.

Well now, @shiumai , that is very true (however, it was in the plans since 1960).

I just used I-105, so folks would know where I was talking about.

I could have used some of the other names for that stretch of highway, like,
US 101, Santa Anna Freeway, Century Freeway, Imperial Highway, Glenn Anderson Freeway or Route 42.

But that would have been confusing.

Besides ........ it's MY story .......
