x2. This happens a lot in the OEM world. What we do know is that it's based off the same chassis architecture (which is a good thing)

It is 99% a stock 17+. If it is a test mule it is for something well hidden. I think people are reading far more into this than the reality will prove to be.

Probably just testing a different engine/drive train combo in the existing chassis. Everybody is bitching about torque maybe they are trying out a diesel

Or the hybrid they are working on.

I'm loving all the hopes, dreams and rainbows people are talking about.

Especially from the "insiders" who "talked" to "Tetsuya".

The internets is such an entertaining environment.

What if this is bomex trialing their newest bodykit? And they found swirlywrap thinking it would be funny? I think it's funny.

Or maybe Toyota is going to follow Subaru and tag more name onto the 86. Just like how there are STI variants to Subarus, maybe there will be an 86 Supra? Charge more for same TRD edition with a new front bumper?

Before you jump on me, remember the Celica Supra. Not apples to apples but who knows what more money grab shenanigans they'll do to rebrand the car again for more money.

Could that thing under the rear window be for a rear window wiper? I've always wished for one of those.

Me too, I would love that! I would be surprised if it got one though.

Agreed. If you pay attention to the underside, exhaust, suspension arms etc, seems pretty standard.
If it was a new gen platform things wouldn’t “fit” and they would not start by making a new bumper/fenders. But we’ll see, you can never be 100%.

I’m always happy to see them testing stuff.

BTW I got a picture of the plate, it’s definitely Subaru testing, not Toyota.

It’s a GPS antenna for data logging.

Yeah, I always though it’s pretty sad/ironic that they made a Nürburgring developed car(GRMN, in which the MN stands for Masters of the Nürburgring) and sold them only in Japan meaning those cars won’t ever be driven around the Nordschleife. What a waste!

If I recall correctly, one of the NISMO R32 GTR Nissan Skylines had the rear window wiper removed as a feature, no aircon or radios as well.

Becauseracecar

Adding a rear wiper will obviously slow the twins down so much a mini van will beat it in a drag race..... wait......what.....

In other news, my 2017 86 is freaking awesome.
