Uncatted header install

Just checking to see if anyone else has experienced this. I recently replaced my stock header with the Gruppe-S. Immediately noticed exhaust smell which I knew would happen and am OK with... if it stays outside. But when I turn on the climate control its almost unbearable. I can't hear any leaks... but I think I must have a leak somewhere. Any ideas? Or is this normal?

Thanks!!

possible that WD-40 was spray onto the nut, in order to break it loose easier?

when I was doing the header swap and spray WD40 on the nut, after i got the aftermarket one in and start up the car. it started smoking and smell really bad, turn out it was just the WD-40 burning because the engine/exhaust heat up.

it should go away after a day

I forgot to take a sticker off a front pipe before I installed it. It melted and I thought I melted something important before I realized. I'd wait a week to see if it goes away

Check the connection to the overpipe, that's where most leaks usually come from from header installs

You'll have a smell for a little while while the exhaust heat burns off the coatings and other things. It'll go away. I run a gruppe s uel also.

Nope did not use anything to break nuts loose.

I bought the header used, so no stickers present.

Thanks... I bought the header used so coatings and whatnot should have already been burnt off.

Get some soapy water and spray it on the exhaust flanges when its cold. Helps to spot leaks since you'll see the suds move.

Did you use all new gaskets and/or RTV?

Thanks! That was my plan for this weekend.

I used new gaskets but just received a set of new ones from Grimmspeed I am going to use.
