Can I buy rear camera and head unit 2016

Hey, I have a 2015 FRS (BASE)
I need a rear camera and I was wondering if I could buy the rear camera and the HU of the 2016 model?

I know there were few guide of how to install the rear camera an after market one. I don't like the quality and I wanted something from Toyota...

By the looks of things... no. It's a brand new headunit meaning new wiring configuration but I might be wrong. Check with someone who has a 2016 and ask them to take a picture of the back of their hu and compare it with your headunit. Plus buying an audio hu from Toyota is going to cost alot. I was quoted $1300 for a 2013 brz hu without the SD card and wiring. SD was another $600. So expect $1500+ since the rear view camera doesn't come with your purchase of the hu

The 2015 base headunit will support a camera. I installed one on mine.

It's a Toyota camera. It looks identical to the camera installed on the 2016 car.

I got it off ebay searched for Toyota Fit camera. Paid about 100$ for it. Comes with the hole saw to drill the hole to mount the camera. In hindsight I could have gotten a 15$ knock off and accomplished the exact same thing but like yourself I wanted a factory part.

It comes with a harness that plugs into the back of the radio. You have to tap into your reverse lamp signal and run a wire for the reverse trigger. There's a thread on here how to do it. Now that ive done it once it's a half hour job at most.

No way would I spend 1500$ upgrading to a 2016 headunit to do the exact same thing. That would be ridiculous.

Mine has guidelines, Not sure what you mean by not calibrated?

Actually I believe there is a jumper on the camera wire to disable them, and another set to invert the signal 180. Mine are spot on however so I didn't worry about it.

When I set mine up. I placed markers on the ground. The markers were square to the back of the car and centered on the guidelines. Not sure how much better/worse it could be. I use it for backing into parking spaces as to not hit a concrete barrier with my exhaust and to back into the garage. I'm not filming video with it.

As to whether or not it meets your standards or not is speculative. I was simply trying to be helpful. I've been in a 2016 I don't recall it being any different. By all means if you have the money to spare to install a 16 headunit that is probably what you should do.

My sincere apologies in how I talked to you buddy. I was wondering which one did you buy and where =p?

Also, does it work with the base model of the 2015 FRS??

I bought this one...

There are guidelines but I left them on because why not? They will be accurate if you mount dead center. I mounted off center. Good quality, only spliced one wire (reverse trigger)
