Well, it still can be. Just get yourself a tube of the sealant glue stuff and a couple of handfuls of valve springs and - project away -

I'm around 2000kms after my valve spring recall work and 0 problems. Had my plugs and ToB changed while they were at it, was only charged for the parts. It seems it hits people pretty quickly so I'm confident I'm in the clear at this point. My work was performed by Subaru of Kingston.

Did my recall work early. Had problems soon after. 3 weeks at the dealership and car is back. Haven't driven more than 20km so far so hopefully issues rectified.

Definitely flash back to stock, and do it a few drive cycles before taking it in.

Definitely. I've seen like 6-8 come and go and that's just at one dealer. Lots of owners aren't on the forums here.

**for people asking who's done it in the GTA**

I got my recall done at Meadowvale toyota. Probably have ran around 10k km no problems so far. Hoping the car stays strong. I'm at around 135k km now.

It'll be fine. You'll be down on power compared to with the tune, but it'll be safe to drive.

Has anyone here done the recall at Richmond Hill or Markham Subaru? Or another dealer in the GTA? How did it go?

Greetings, I am new to this forum and it is because of the Valve spring recall, I did have my engine seize and since then have gathered a great deal of info that I should share. The dealership has agreed to replace the bearings but not the short block and Toyota Canada refuses to acknowledge an issue. If you have a complaint it should be registered with Transport Canada, the APA , and BBB, all are now aware and are watching. Apparently Toyota Canada is very nervous about an investigation, strangely there have been few complaints from the Suburu side because an insider believes they are fixing the problems with the" fix" to protect their reputation, Toyota is not. A couple of possible reasons are being talked about, the sealant issue and the lack of priming the oil pump properly. Another issue at least here in Ontario is the new parts distribution network, it's not working. I have been waiting for 7 weeks and there is still no end in sight, summer is almost over. I hope this helps I will continue to spread the word and pressure Toyota, I am not done yet.

Good man. This issue made the news here: https://www.thestar.com/life/advice/...dangerous.html

I'll join you in making a Transport Canada complaint.
