I'm still not 100% clear where to cut. Can somebody take a video miming or tracing the cut line with a cold soldering iron?

Finally got around to doing this. I used 3m window weld to seal mine back up.
I did the tail as turn signal mod a couple months ago, so I blacked out the whole taillight assembly, since back up lights are now at the bottom in my GCS 4th brakelight assembly. I used satin black for all the chrome and niteshade for the red. No lights lights on brake lights

I know this thread is dead, but I have an extra set of tails that I'm probably not going to be using for my car now. I will be making a full DIY video of how to open the lights with a soldering iron. I have an idea of how I want to paint them, but thought I would ask if anyone has any color/style requests on what they want to see, since these most likely wont end up on my car. If there is no interest, I probably wont post the video, but I'm going to be doing this regardless. Let me know!

So of course I find a video of this already done today. I have searched maybe 10 other times over the last few months and have had no luck. Anyway, here it is. This is not me doing this in the video, credit to Gunma Kenny whoever he may be. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ypja5dZUVo"]FRS/BRZ: OEM Tail-light Split / DIY - YouTube[/ame]
In case anyone is curious, I am going to use the penny method to fill in the recessed circle in the tail light. I am going to lightly smoke the rest of the circle black, but then red out the rest of the tail light housing, including the turn signal. I have not yet seen this done. If anyone has pictures of this I would love to see them. |

Smoked reflectors
Hey Cobrabyte, what kind (or can) of smoked paint did you use? Also what order did you spray it in? Did you first tape off the turn signal then after blacking out the whole chrome housing then you lightly sprayed the smoked paint on the turn signal? I'm looking to do this too but I think I like the way yours came out the best... Too much chrome for me too.
