2020 86 news

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2...-android-auto/

Here is some news on the 2020 86. The article cites a news release from Toyota, but I was unable to find it on the Toyota USA newsroom site. Essentially Toyota gets some of the 2019 TRD Edition model upgrades as an option like the BRZ Performance Package, but they call it a TRD Handling Package. Brembos, Sachs dampers, and 18 inch rims with Pilot Sport tires. They also offer it on the base model (Only? Not clear.). Considering Subaru is said to no longer even offer their base model, this is a unique combination. Also new is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I am excited by that last part since I’m hoping it's just a simple software update of my older radio, or at the very least I can switch the head unit out while still under warranty.

Another article with some pictures. The radio looks completely different, so no software update for me. Oh well. The TRD badge on the trunk (I think) looks pretty sharp.

Not really even a facelift from 17+.

TRD badge, Meh

Maybe if you put a STI and a TRD badge on your approval rating will skyrocket.

I do like that green, not enough to swap my orange on for though

Not sure why this seems like such a surprise to everybody. It is exactly what should have been expected this year. We have known about the green and TRD stuff for months now. Did people really think the regular versions were going to surpass them somehow? Can't wait to see the responses next year when the 300 hp turbo Toyota engine, 800 pound, built on a Toyota platform, $25,000 version that the clickbaits keep talking about fails to show up.
