careful with either tapes-- they can leave residue if they are left installed for a long time.. which imo, would be much worse then the scratches...

I take mine out every time I clean the cars so never been a problem for me. I also have a set of SRP pedals including the dead pedal so definitely don't worry about it.

Holy crap I think there is a picture of me that looks just like that!
The kid in the middle is so close it is uncanny and my Grandma had the exact same couch pattern (plastic covered as well) and round end table.
I am a little freaked out actually.

If Gaffer Tape is used then there wouldn't be any residue. It's made to leave no residue. Strong and weather proof. I think tape would have to be replaced at least once depending on WX.

Eventually the pedal is going to get some scratches. But the ones the OP has are extreme

Mine has a little bit, but not enough that I don't think it would polish out. I'm not too worried about it as long as I can't see it and it's an easily replaceable part. Pretty sure I would've destroyed factory mats by now from driving in heels.

I'd rather not have slick pedals in the rain, thanks...

Damn, the DANGER is gone from the title and this no longer makes sense.

I'm glad I bought the OEM floor mats!

finally cleaned the car this weekend-- mine has a more defined line across the top edge where the mat meets the pedal, but i also work construction, so my feet bring in more debris then most people..

yeah, gaffers tape ought to do it, i was just specifically talking about duct tape and masking tape-- bad experiences with both of those leaving nasty residue behind.
