Tomei

Tomei compared rods on the factory FA20 to the Factory FA20T and discovered the FA20T rods were a heavier design. Also the pistons were heavier design even tho they were 10.6 compared to the 12.5 FA20

I guess Subaru engineers didn't feel safe pushing FA20 stock rods to even 268hp @6700rpm at the crank was safe.

There is a huge difference between a manufacturers factor of safety and anything aftermarket. A manufacturer designs parts to meet a variety of goals, also OEM parts are expected to last far longer than anything aftemarket.

So increasing power for an OEM will mean a change to ensure parts last 250,000 + miles.

That being said reasonably increasing power will affect partlife but it will mean an engine lasts only 100,000 miles vs 250,000+

I guess it boils down to what people expect it to last too, in when considering calling it safe. I do not believe 100k scenario will be
possible going f/I on a FA20, but that's just my opinion. But your statement has merit for sure..

EDIT

EDIT
I guess you will not have too long to wait considering some people are over 100k with combined NA and turbo time

If you want it to go away why do you keep necro-threading it? I think there was a lot if good information, and a lot of good discussion (other than people who keep trying to purposefully derail it). Why do you want it locked? II think it is valuable to people who are considering modding this (or any other) car. All I have seen from you 2 are snarky comments. If you don't have anything valuable to contribute, why don't you just stay quiet? Or why don't you give some comments of value? Why don't you directly and rationally respond to the last few comments by the OP? Is there anything there you can object to? if so why? and with what data?

I'll start. I did 3miles with 1000WHP so it must be safe. Anyone that blows an engine on less power must have had a bad tune.

Is that a good enough fact?
