It was pretty shocking to see the change in attitude - I come from driving C6 vettes, and porsches mostly, and I never got revved on. 2nd day out in the BRZ, some ghetto ass hispanic dude in a beat up SN95 mustang was just revving on me at a left turn red light (wtf?)

Ironically, I used to be one of these dumbasses in my younger days. All I cared about was 1/4 mile, so the LT1 Z28 was the logical choice for me. Worked on it myself and had it with an LT4 "hot" cam, 1.6RRs, headers, hiflo cat, exhaust, tuning, electric WP, the whole shebang - good for 12.9@106-108mph. Nobody revved on me.

Sadly, I'd see "nicer" cars, and I have to confess - when I saw the new S2000s hit the road, I liked them but could not admit it as it ran completely opposite of my "go fast with big V8s" dogma. I'd race them and "smoke" them just to convince myself that I had the better car and that I shouldn't lust after the S2000 (or whatever other hot car was out at the time)

So, if some kid in some shitty camaro/mustang is revving on you, take it as a kind of car-freudian slip. They feel threatened and need to protect their precious and fragile ego. They are too young to realize it most of the time but they are showing their slip.

As for me, I am so f*cking glad I got out of that scene. Don't get me wrong, nothing puts a smile on my face like a <5 second 0-60, but there's a reason I sold my C5Z06 and C6 1LT to get an S2000 (which I eventually traded in for a lotus elise, then a boxster S).

Can't go back, myself.

i feel like two encounters hardly qualifies as "a lot of challenges...specifically camaros"

I wish this thread was longer. I love the stories. I raced like a mother.... At 18 when my brother let me drive his Acura TL-S. then at 19 I got an e46 325i, not too fast but beautiful. Now I'm 20 and got the FRS last month. My dad told me that this car s gonna get a bunch of opportunities to race but ignore them. I knew it would be bad but not THIS bad: my dad was teaching me how to drive stick shift with my frs and on the way home we see a Lexus IS250 fly by us at like 80 on a 45. He slows down until we get next to him and he starts flashing his lights. My dad said "I told you." And the Lexus sped like a mofo. My dad ignored it and said, "when I was your age I raced my fiat spyder like there was no tomorrow, so I know how you feel... But resist the urge." The next week some 2013 Civic (not SI) pulls up next to me at a stop light and revs his loud ass rice maker exhaust and I laugh my ass off. He floored it on green and I'm dying laughing. Another stop light comes up and he lowers his window yelling at me to race him. I rev my little boxer and he laughed then I took off at the green with him and I destroyed him. I put my hazards on and slowed down for him to come say something but he got behind me and slowed down even more. I sped up to speed limit and he stayed at his slow ass pace eventually turning away somewhere.

Yes, immature and stupid, but totally worth it... I won't be racing on the public roads anymore

There's virtually zero point in drag racing the FR-S/BRZ; unless you're heavily modified.

No hassle with my FR-S but whenever I am on my bike I am constantly being raced without knowing it.

I tend not look around me at stop lights, but the week after i picked up my brz, a Chrysler 300c next to me peeled off at a light. i guess he wanted to race? i wasn't aware though. A couple of weeks ago a Charger with paper plates came up behind me quickly on the freeway so i moved over to the right to let him pass, and he just cruised next to me for about a mile. The windows were tinted, but i could see two guys in there. They werent really making eye contact or revving, so im assuming they were checking out my car and wishing they would have bought a BRZ instead of a car that everyone and their mom already have :P I can only assume i will have more encounters in the spring/summer when i start cruising with my windows down, and all the punk kids are out of highschool.

When I'm in the 911s I get way more. That car just brings out the testosterone. I almost never respond, but when I see someone like a Scion TC or a Kia crossover revving their engine or screwing around with me on the highway, I just have to show them how stupid it is.
No. You don't.

Thanks for the input. I never do anything stupid. It only takes a quick burst at not even full throttle to put them in their place.

Like you said, the car just "brings out the testosterone."

I know my limits and I never go past or generally even close to them.

It's just good that you put those Kia crossovers in their place with your mighty 911. Can't have them thinking you're soft....

It was more just a joke for us. I'm not sure why you're so invested in making me out to be a ****.
