It'll probably take some time to fill the inventory pipeline and for the initial excitement to wear off. I haven't seen any arrive yet at local dealers, and from searching on line, the few dealers out there that have one seem to be asking several thousand over MSRP. I'm not going to pay over sticker. I'll wait for a while... |

Zdan, thank you. I'm not far from you at all. So all-season tires won't cut it in this area in the winter?

Sottozero 3 are the first winter tires I've run that don't make me miss my summer tires in "normal" conditions. Dry/wet grip is amazing, and so is handling feel. The Dunlop Wintersports I ran on the S2000 were noticeably lacking in those conditions |

Currently have AWD + All seasons. Gets by without issue. I still recommend full time winters (we only got all seasons as we were restricted by budget at the time) We're currently using Continental ExtremeContact DWS. Amazing snow grip for an all season tire. Good in the dry too, a little softer sidewall compared to its competition so its not as stiff and maybe ultimate performance isn't as good as them either, but its still really good. |

Buy winters 100%. Avoid michilen x ice 3. Possibly the worst winter tires I have ever experienced.

Running Michelin AS3+'s year-round on my Focus RS and BRZ. I haven't driven the BRZ in the snow, but the RS does *OK* with these tires. They are not a true winter and don't pretend to be. We don't get heavy snow that often, but when we do (like now) I wish I had some Alpins.
With that said, the fun factor is pretty high with the AS3's and AWD RS. In order to get good turn-in, I've got to utilize the rear diff to induce some ass movement. |

I went from a 2010 370z sport to 2016 frs and in my opinion I like the frs alot better. Not even saying that you can fully build a brz/frs for what it cost to get s twin turbo kit on a Z.

Besides that, what do you like about the FRS over the Z? I'm curious!

Re: Porsche -- yeah, the same re: turned off by not being able to see the Cayman or 911 engine. Even though I don't "wrench" on my cars I do like to open the hood and look at (and try and understand) the underlying mechanicals, and one of the (many) interesting aspects of the 86-platform is the (aesthetically pleasing) engine bay -- i.e. boxer design, no ugly plastic covers, everything (well mostly everything) accessible, and the 2017+ MT has that great red crinkle aluminum intake, etc. I drove a 1991 NA Miata from new (sadly sold a few years back, I do miss it) and considered an ND but wanted a change, and the new 2017 BRZ I purchased to replace the MX-5 has never disappointed. It's as fun to drive almost two years later as it was the day (4/20 2017) I took it home. As for it being "slow", lacking torque, etc., just wind it up and wring it out -- it won't throw you back in your seat from a stoplight in 1st gear, but if you cruise in the appropriate gear, downshift for speed, etc. you'll have a plenty good time and (almost) always without breaking the law. I do miss more of an open air cockpit feel (one of my favorite memories of the NA MX-5 is top up and rear window zipped down) and wish the BRZ had at least a simple removable roof panel (or panels) but most (FL) days I drive it old school with both windows rolled down and that satisfies -- reminds me of my past (cherished memory) 70s-early80s Toyota and Datsun hardtop coupes. |
