So this happened today......

Been thinking about it for a bit......but today I said screw it and traded in the BRZ. So happy about it. It basically handles flat like the BRZ but with power and more space.

So far, 31 miles in and loving it.

I'll have better photos tomorrow when I get out with the DSLR.

Better photos!

The 86 is not for everyone. It's a bit like comparing apples to orange though, N/A vs. Turbo.

Every now and then I browse on eBay searching for STI's, 370, used m3's.. but once I get back in my 86, the others cars lack in comparison.

I still support you!

I loved the 86. But it had to many comprises for me. But never didn't enjoy it though.

I will say from my brief drive so far, the new STi is all the benefits of the BRZ but with more power and refinement. It honestly IMO has better driving characteristics than the BRZ + AWD. Turn in is insane along with outstanding grip. Granted it carries a heftier price haha. So it should be a better performing car.

I highly recommend getting a ride in one or driving one at some point just to feel what it's like. The BRZ taught me what I want a car to drive like and my old STi's taught me the fun of power. So together.....just WOW.

That's my ladyfriends GC. Rebuilt stock motor and about every JDM part to make it a "real" looking JDM GC8 STi. I love it. I've had a few of them in the past and it's by far my favorite body style. That's another thing I'm a huge fan of with the 15. It carries many heritage design cues to the original STi days.

Congrats on the beautiful car! Subaru learned so much in the development of the 86, in glad to see some carry over.

In an ideal world, I would have both, but for now, its the BRZ for me. A few years down the line, come time for that second child seat tho, I will have no choice but to trade up to one of these

Also, kudos to the lady friend for the very classy GC8!

@monkeedoo $21500. Not as high as you could sell it privately that's for sure. I got an amazing deal on my BRZ when I bought it from my lady's dealer before we moved to the Bay which made me less concerned about that number.

Also after doing a ton of research, seeing info from multiple dealers on BRZ lot times in the area, and consulting with my lady friends old co-workers about the market for them....I said screw it. I didn't want to get stuck paying for a car I wasn't wanting for a long time as it depreciates faster and faster. They took some money off the STi for me as well which made it better.

That's the unfortunate side of the BRZ. They are probably the worst value holders of the whole brand lineup. Most dealers have them sitting on the lot for 80-100 days here in Cali and are not excited to take them in.

I'm hoping to do something similar eventually. I want to get a WRX possibly a STI, but keep my FR-S. It'll be a few years before i can attempt anything like that though, maybe i'll try getting a used one at that point.

Still waiting on the STi to get an updated FA block in there.

If the WRX can crank out 268hp on a boosted FA20 this time around, the STi is bound for the motor update shortly.
