The facts are that the rear brakes only do at most 30% of the braking. What I don't want are those rear brakes to get overheated and start to fade or boil the brake fluid and ruin my brake pedal feel. I can adjust brake bias by pad compound instead of piston size as well. I will take the additional cooling capability of the rear STI setup any day of the week and twice on Thursdays.

^Track car driver, makes sense.

Sportsguy83 amateur rookie driver, minimal to none track time, with already upgraded OEM rear brakes (fluid, pads, SS lines) does not make sense to spend the money unless again stumbles upon stupidly cheap deal.

I agree, I just don't like all the negative press that the rear STI swap seems to catch on this site.

I got used calipers for $1400 and then paid $700 for the new rotors and pads and another $100 for the brake lines.

It's worth mentioning the bias IMO, though most people doing brakes have no idea what it is. It was a larger problem in the Impreza given its crappy braking. The STI swap is a good all around solution, I like it and I don't think I've given it bad press. The fact is the bias does move forward. I like to adjust bias via compound as well, but many folks don't play that game for some reason.

Anyhow, I never saw a good deal on used 08+ sets and never felt like getting the bracket required for my 04-07 set I had.
