Sorta? We're currently working on solidifying some of the manufacturing details. We're on target to go into production with the braces in the next month, so get excited! Unfortunately, we've been battling rain, ice and snow here in Minnesota, so we haven't had much time to spend in the car and that's the next/last step.

So, in the mean time, let's talk colors. We're always partial to textured black, but are there other options that people would prefer? Post up the color(s) that you'd be interested in purchasing! In the past, we've heard red and blue. Thoughts?

Mostly black. A little touch of red somewhere could be cool. Someone mentioned the stick on logos like the hood struts. Could do one of those in red and it would be nice. Not sure how well that adheres to the textured surface, but I would expect fairly well.

I was thinking the lines of a gunmetal or dark gray color.

My car is WRB so I'm partial to the Black with a gold badge, a metallic blue, or a gold bar

I like the OEM look of flat black (textured or not). But a dull gold/bronze might look pretty badass...

Black has my vote, but the smoother the better. Not really down with textured. Not gonna be caressing my body all over my engine bay... frequently enough to merit textured strut braces. haha

I was doing a little playing around with some finite element analysis, and I just wanted to show some things that might interest you regarding some of the cutout profiles we've been throwing ideas around with here.

For a given material and load (Cold Rolled Mild Steel and 400lbf), I'll show you the deflection (in MM) of three designs we've looked at. First up will be our "control," or no cutout piece.

The deflection at its maximum point is 0.079mm. That's about twice the width of the average human hair. The picture is greatly exaggerated to help show where those deformations are taking place.

Next is the same test, but with a triangular cut out:

The expected result is actually a bit more than I had expected initially. My assumption was that the shorter gusset was the limiting factor on the strength of this bracket, but I was quick to judge. However, the maximum expected deflection is only 0.086mm. The increase in deflection here is about 0.007mm, which is so tiny that I don't really have anything to compare it to. It's pretty much negligible.

And just the same, here is the expected deflection with the logo cut out of the bracket:

The expected deflection on this design is roughly 0.086mm, nearly identical to the bracket with the cutout. Technically the deflection is less than with the triangular cutout, but not by much.

The difference in strength for both cutout options compared to the solid option is negligible. I just wanted to demonstrate quick that the choice is nearly 100% aesthetic.

0.086mm hmm matches up to a lot of 86 on this car...LOL!

A black that matches the stock triangulation bars, or blue.

Sounds like the people have spoken! Black will definitely be an option. Will there be others? You'll have to wait and see.
