When I hit standing water, it got caught in the diffuser and forced the rear bumper off as I drove forward.

No, the mix of mother nature (high waters) and style of diffuser (how it was mounted).

car looks good but im still confused about the diffuser design issue. i get the low height made the diffuser hit the water, but wouldnt the water just go over/around the diffuser? or does the diffuser have pockets where it could collect water like a glove? if so, then that would mean air gets caught there during normal driving too...

Exactly what happened.. the design has pockets and the water had no exit. At this moment in time it is purely cosmetic (mentioned before in another post.)

ahhhh gotcha. damn, and i liked the way that diffuser looks too. maybe you can cut/dremel tiny slat(s) to create an opening. itll probably actually help more during regular driving too due to less drag.

Already on it lol, just been weary of creating stress cracks due to it being fiber glass.

If you still have the TRD shift knob, how do you like it compared to the stock one? I'm thinking trd or flossy

Personally, it felt like it sat a bit lower which I liked. But I also picked up an MTEC Drift know which makes shifting a bit smoother. Never felt a flossy knob before, so I can't compare. But TRD or MTEC, can't go wrong w/ either.
